A week ago or so Ivan said the VFC server was going back online with the kursk map. Where is it? Am I just blind or is it available at different times than before?

Hi mate, HOST was down for quiet sometime, more then 2 months - due to dead monitor. But wednesday i finally purchased new one and it was up for last two nights. From 9pm to 9am. I wish i could run it 24/7, but it`s my daughter PC as well.. you know...Dora the explorer, SpongeBob and other cool "flight simulators" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Was playing 1942 Stalingrad last night and Porkhorovka night before, loads of fun and great crowd. Not sure yet, but will try to get COOP Night going tonight, if not, will run Kuban 1943 limited.'

Cheers!

That's Eastern time then? So that's midnight Pacific. AHHHH!!!! Well,if it's on Friday I can probably make it most of the time but I need my beauty rest for the rest of the week.

I know about kids on the computer, mine have their own, but they prefer the higher horsepower on mine. And since mine is the only online system in the house they are always wanting to surf Barbie.com and the My Little Pony site! The things Dads have to do!

LOL! I had my time backwards, most excellent then, more time to play!

BTW: I was considering setting up a server myself eventually to fill in the much ignored Eastern Front gap. Can I fly on my server if it's on the same computer that is running it? Or do I have to build a second machine now?

Thank you for running a great server Ivan. Come one, come all, the only thing missing has been players. Four Vs. four is not bad, but it would be more fun with more players on both sides.

Thanks repo, we topped at 22 last night... but i am sure will fill her up on the weekend. Still not sure about VFC COOPs night, but regardless host will be up tonight either with df or coops.

@CivilDog, you really need a separate PC to run dedicated mate. AEP utilizes all resources and it be worse then running non-dediacated server.

Hmmmm, I don't know if I should be excited about "having" to build a seperate server or not... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

After Christmas I'll work on it. For now I'll just play on your's. Thanks!

Sorry to jump in on ya Crazyivan, but CivilDog, check out War_Clouds_EF on HL. It's a dedicated Eastern Front server. Planeset is 43 and earlier.

Eastern front, almost always on VFC. Occasionally Ivan will run mixed or west front, but most of the time it's east. Makes for a big change of pace, IMO, especially after all the west front server.

If we get a Murmansk map, Ivan WILL have to put P-47's on... Mwahahaha! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

The only problem with War Clouds EF, is that it has been empty virtually every time I've wanted to play.

The problem isn't the server. I think that the problem is we don't have a large enough pool of players who are comfortable with cockpit on servers.

In chat on VFC the other night, I mentioned how, when I see someone being a jerk to a newbie who asks newbie type questions on server chat, I feel like asking him, "Do you like to play on empty servers?" What I mean by that is we were all newbies once, and helping others have a good time playing FB is not just the right thing to do, it is also in our own best interests. Full servers are fun servers, empty ones are just sad. FB has a steep learning curve, and it takes some work to become proficient enough to be able to hold your own online. A few bad experiences may be enough for some to give up on online play altogether. That is bad news for those of us who like to play online.
Not that anyone who has posted in this thread would treat new players poorly. But if anyone reading this has done so, please consider the future of the game before you do so again.

I know what you mean, Repo, all too well. Doesn't hurt to stop for a moment and answer a few questions, and get the newbie off on a good start. I actually rather enjoy it.

I tried to get on VFC host dogfight server the other night and it quickly kicked my 56k A$$ off. Checktime settings are too tight. Will somthing bad happen if it is left at default? Before this checktime krap, I was on VFC all the time. S!

I ran on VFC host last night without getting booted. Ivan said I might have a hardware problem.

This never made sense to me as I never had a problem until changing the settings was enabled in the last patch.

For the heck of it anyway I took out my Audigy2zs and threw it on the pile. Will run the onboard sound for a while to see what it does.

S!
