I'm trying to use teamspeak, but no success. I did connect to a server on hyperlobby, started the online game and yet I don't hear anyone. What am I doing wrong?

Teamspeak is a 3rd party program. You must connect to a teamspeak server. Some servers on HL will have a teamspeak server for their players.Usually the url, username and password will be listed in their info.

There are many public teamspeak servers out there.

Some squads have their own server.

The easiest thing to do in a game is ask if anyone is on teamspeak and ask if you may join.

I heard some guys talk in an online games, but why would it be so quiet and with static noise? I have my mic and volume turned all the way up, and also seems like I gotta put my mic in my mouth to say something. Is there any settings I have to change in the game options itself? Thanks.

The game has a built in voice comms. No one really uses it as it does not sound that good and is harder to use.

It sounds like you have your volume turned up too high and are hearing the backround static.

There are sliders in the teamspeak settings to adjust your output volume and mic sensitivity.(if you are using voice activated)

Also there is a setting in the windows audio properties in the mic section for boost.Make sure that box is checked.(advanced settings I believe)

Thanks guys, also is it possible that onboard sound can be an issue?

If you've installed the TS client software, you definitely want to disable the ingame coms. Toggle the switch to the down or off position.

Still can't get TS to work well. I've noticed when I turn my main speakers on I can hear everyone clearly, but on the headphones its very quiet. Could it be software or hardware problem?

Go into your Control Panel and double-click on the Sounds & Audio Devices icon then click on the Voice tab. At the bottom of that window you will see a button called Test Hardware. Click on it and go through the motions to see if this helps. Make sure the TS Client isn't running when you do this. Hope this helps.

Get someone on a server who is on Teamspeak to join you via instant messenger and they can guide you through the snags.
