Running V3.02bm with FBDaemon II (not sure how well this works with v3.02bm, but we'll find out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

S~ all,

As of 12-02 at 01:00 ET, the Blazing Magnums dedicated server is back online.

Right now I am only running a modified version of my pacific d/f map that I made set to cycle on a 50 plane/30 pilot, 16 hour cycle.

It is using a "beta" version of the new template. I have cut down on a lot of the info in the description. It is not quite complete yet, but it will be close to what I have on the server.

It is set to host 30 players through hyperlobby with 5 "back doors" for 35 players total. This is an initial test number of players to see how much my machine can handle and how much my connection can handle.

Deathkick is on, 4 deaths gets you 5 minutes off. Teamspeak dedicated server lobby is open to the public now. Teamspeak IP is 208.18.74.34. Gateway channel is no transmit channel, so you'll have to move the the Dedicated Server lobby. There are channels for allied and axis available.

The map is a pretty good map. It is generic though and there are no ground objectives as of yet. My plan is to try to make a new map every 2 to 3 weeks, so the rotation should grow pretty quickly with a variety.

Get some squad mates together and go in a check it out. I am curious as to the threshold of my computer and my bandwith. An upgrade may be necessary if the bandith outstrips the computers ability to host.

Glad to see you guys back online, always a good server. I've enjoyed my sorties there in the past quite a bit and found great missions, good teamplay and a nice warm welcome.

Welcome back!

S~ Zen, thanks for the good words.. I'll be working on some scripted maps over the next couple of weeks.

I think we could also throw up the winter map (member tin?)..

If anyone out there has some scripted sets that they would like to see online, we would be happy to consider including them in the rotation. Stop by and register at our forums for more information.

Here is the direct linke to our HL Server Thread:

Public TeamSpeak Channel: 208.18.74.34

(definitely go a lot further with comms in full switch)

In a day or two, TinMan will be turning off the speedbar as well.

If we present any missions with planesets that have impossible-to-read compasses, we will pick maps that are easy to navigate via VFR...probably a shoreline N/S map.

Added some maps:

2 Pacific N/S Carrier/Island Maps
1 Pacific N/S Island Map
1 Winter Western Front
1 Summer Western Front
1 Burma Road (very difficult)*

If you have a map you would love to see go Full Switch (especially maps with ground offensives) and you would like to see it running on a dedicated server, stop by our forums and introduce yourself. We won't bitehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Maps *do* need to be scripted. If you don't know how to script and would like to learn (or just have us do it for you) let us know.

The best sellers are relatively historically accurate/action packed missions with juuuusst the right amount of AAA. Kinda tricky right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Just test it out before you submit it.

In the meantime, everyone is welcome in our server. Even vfp's that don't prefer Full Switch should give it a try. It is a public server, which means we welcome constructive criticism as long as it is constructive criticism..lol.. We also welcome other people to submit maps, clue us into map and server problems, join our Comms (TeamSpeak: 208.18.74.34), shoot our bailing pilots, strafe our bases, vulch our landers, and explore the havock of total warfare! If you feel like having a blast on the side, that's ok too...

S~ ALL!

*If you haven't flow full switch we recommend staying away from the Axis side of the Burma Road Mission. It requires serious navigation on the Japanese's part just to find the Burma Road. Once the Japanese find the Burma road, however, they have ground target's galore up and down the whole corridor! However, 50 vehicles must be destroyed this day or the Emporer will be displeased and you will be disgraced.

If you are new to navigation or Full Switch, then join the Allies and just follow the Burma Road from you base. And remember, there's no place like home.. Accept maybe a cool drink and a little FB/AEP/PF in yur home... [Can they shorten that? What am I supposed to call it? Il2, PF? Maddox Series? Oleg? Wah?]

Last night I destroyed about 30 trucks on 1 sortie. I ran into a P-40 at low level, but luckily I spotted him just as he crouched along the land to pounce me-- and even scored a kill. Then, my mic stopped working (wireless mic batteries wore out) so I landed on the road,(hit the recharger for a fresh battery), and took off again to shoot down the rest of my 30 planes. Wasn't sure if I could've RTB'd on the fuel I had left over, so I decided to exit the game and change the requirement from 35 trucks to 50. Ahhhhhhh. That's better.. Or is it enough? You be the judge.

Huge map, several people have reported a smooth game with only one negative report so far. Let us know how it runs for you.

I flew on the two island maps a couple days ago and had a fantastic time I must say. I don't care for PF theatre at all, but I took the A6m2-21 up and had a really good experience. I often fly american planes in western front servers so I decided to try the Zero and was pleasantly surprised by it. I thought the map was fine, playable and there was plenty of action. Smooth as silk with no stutters.

Second map rotation was at dusk and simply rocked. To be honest I am not a big fan of extreme conditions like snow, darkness or things that dramatically limit visibility, but for some reason everytime I run into that on BM357 I have a blast and love it. I think maybe it's because of full switch...everything is more difficult and therefore a little extra weather or darkness just seems to make it that much more intense. We had that night mission over the Crimea a while ago where I flew an A4 around in near darkness strafing AA guns and dodging fighters by moonlight...talk about immersive http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
(I would have stayed longer, but lately been plagued by random reboots during game due to some kind of hardware problem my PC is having, though hopefully I will have that resolved today.)

Perhaps I am a closet full switch junky, but even though I don't like the PF theatre (no 190 you see) and am not a big fan of low light conditions, I must say that once again BM357 held my attention and laid out a mission that made the conditions fun, exciting and most of all believable. Here again I definately must recommend the server to anyone looking to see a much deeper side of the game, Raven and crew definately have the knack for the right blend of full switch missions that are challenging for the veterans yet still accessible for the new comer. I think I can honestly say they do more to help the new guy than any other full switch server that I have seen yet. If you're not sure what do to or need some help, all you have to do is ask. As a server admin and host myself, things like that go a long way to impress me and this group has definately earned my respect as good hosts.

<S!> Raven and the rest of BM357, keep up the good work.

On behalf of all of us, I sincerely thank you for that Zen.

I remember that. I think I was in a 190 with ya... I should find that map again.

BTW, I have just reintroduced some Western Front maps, so you're ride is back on the lot. Ding-ding-ding, and in the other corner, Zen, in is Focke-Wu... no wait! He's on you're six, juke man, juke!

Of course, there is always some mission that needs polishing, but several of them are (at least to me) a timeless expression of the best missions we've produced to date. One mission called betaI was just an all out hit the last time we had our server running. Seemed like you'd see the same faces again and again on this one single map say "I love this map" and "great server!" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Music to our ears... Another mission called new_front is one of my personal favorites and is hot-fire action from the start.

Other missions are new to the collection and need to be reviewed by people like you and the rest of the full switch community. My newest favorite, is one called Hillside_Attack and is a terrific winter map with a wider selection of planes than many of our other maps (and yes pleanty of FW's).

With our server, it usually takes at least 3 or 4 people to jump start the server with a decent influx. If any of you find yourself in chat or comms three or four guys, think about joining the Blazing_Magnums server.. That should be enough to jumpstart the room. In a short time you'll have 15-20 players in there...
