...the weather in England at the moment! I am so depressed, why has our summer gone down the pan? I dont get it. Rain all weekend. Then today i get up for work and it is bloody cold!!! Not just raining and cloudy, but cold! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif I dont know what to do anymore...i feel to just give up on it and accept it is winter already. I dont have the money for a holiday either so this is it.

Anyone have any positive insights on the weather during the next month here? I'm living in East London btw...please anyone any good news? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

It's supposedly a result of the la Nina weather phenomenon, the chilly sister of El Nino (apologies to Dux for not knowing where the wibbly bit for 'N' is) and it has dragged the jet stream south, bathing us in weather systems that normally pass to the north of the UK at this time of year. It should pass by next spring but it has been a right fekin drag hasn't it? It's like autumn out there at the moment.

Come on over here to Texas where it's right at, or over, 100 deg F nearly everyday this time of the year. It's not bad though b/c the 97% humidity makes up for the heat. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's so bad I can't even drive my new (old) car except during the evenings b/c she's missing part of the fan shroud and tends to run hot. The replacement is on backorder.

I went back home to NZ last Christmas to see some friends and family, and enjoy a few beers sitting in the garden of one of my favourite bars. It was winter in Japan, a baby was on the way so I knew this would be my last 'free" Christmas. A couple of other friends had come back from overseas so all in all I was really looking forward to it.
It was 8 degrees. I wore jeans and a couple of layers on top. Going out at night I had to wear a jacket. It was sunny once in the 12 days I was back home and that was the afternoon of my departure - I honestly just about cried.

I sympathize, Brits.

It seems the British Empire suffers from cold and rain while countries that had the good sense to leave early are doing ok. One can not but wonder if there are collective sins that demands redemption. Here in Sweden cold and rain is par for the course. We do not dwell on petty things like that. Come winter we cut our wrists, come summer we drink to forget past winters.

Cheers!

This may or may not help-(some) doctors prescribe "full spectrum" light bulbs for people who suffer from depression. Some people think "Seasonal affective disorder" (also known as "the winter blues") is caused by the lack of light. It is a common treatment in places like Alaska or northern Europe to prescribe a half hour to a full hour of "Light Therapy"...

108F & not enough rain to even speak for the last three months. The water is so hot that you don't even need a water heater to take a warm shower. The tap water from the sink is nearly 80F. I wish we could trade a little here. I could stand a bit of coolness and dampness.

We are having mixed cold/hot with rain/clouds and not much but some sun.
OTOH my next electric bill won't be such a bear as last from AC use!

My big dislike is hot and humid and still cloudy, more than freezing cold where at least I can
wrap up!

Sorry to hear about the heat wave down south! It's beastly in places. The coast may be fine
now but those big storms kind of make up for so much good! I would not trade, thank you! Not
without being able to take 'vacation' up to 1-2 months on a week's notice or having my own
nuclear powered pleasure submarine to go deep far off the coast and wait out the storm!

I would love some of your English rain right now. Where I live, in Central California, we have a Mediterranean climate, but the worst air in the US. A good rain every few days does wonders for the air quality.

I called my friend in Germany last night. She complained about too much rain. What you guys in the clean, wet west need to do is come live here in China for a while.

It very rarely rains. How is this bad? I'm living in the worlds most polluted country. Rain is the part of the cycle that keeps things clean. The air here is so dirty the visibility is often down to 1/2 km. That's a normal day. There are days where the visibility is down to 100 m.

Don't take rainy weather for granted. Look on the bright side of things.

I take it you're not talking about honest fog.

Don't worry, it is all the fault of the USA or at least that's how it will be told.
They will even agree in San Francisco and have a parade/demonstration about it.

That's not pollution, it's Imperialism!
Sure, before the US got involved China was a happy idyllic paradise!
