Thanks heaps for optimizing the game well Montreal studio, I really appreciate it.

Today I borrowed Assassin's Creed PC Dvd from my friend just to see how it runs on my old pc. And guess what, it only stutters a bit when characters are having chat nad when there are more than 15 people in screen.

My pc specs are:
Pentium 4 2400 mhz (northwood)
1.5gb 266mhz ddr ram
512 mb Radeon x1650 ddr2 agp card
80gb 7200rpm 8mb cache harddisk
and Philips 5.1 soundcard (really old one, bought in 2003)

First I thought my machine wouldn't run the game on even 640x480 at lowest settings but thanks to Montreal studio that I can run the game on 1024x768, post Fx: on, and everything on highest except multisampling on 1. So now I am off to buy the game now, I played for 30 minutes and liked it very much. Definitely worth the $50. So thanks again Ubisoft. : )

Here are some screenshots : )

Fps varies between 16-18. In crowded areas(more than 20 people) I get 16 fps.

Montreal really knows what the are doing. I bought assassins creed the other day and have been playing it non stop and enjoying every little detail. I don't really have issues with performance. I only wish it had proper 16:10 widescreen support.

This team did the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory game. I think that game is one of the best PC games ever made. The controls and performance in that game are amazing not to mention the greatest music.

I'm not a fanboy of Ubisoft as I once was. They ruined Splinter Cell with Double Agent. They also ruined the Rainbow Six series. Ghost Recon was alright but not as great as the original. I understand that the market has shifted toward console games. Good PC games are hard to come by these days.

Hey Jameshendrix,

(Sorry guys if this is a little off-topic) Don't worry about the pc/console war. What everyone seems to be forgetting at the moment is when the XBox and PS2 got more than 1 1/2 years old they were excessively outdone by PC hardware and it has to be remembered that games producers will always produce games for the best hardware because this is how they get their games looking and performing the best. So yes, at the moment the consoles are lapping it up! But it won't be long now before they are outdone again.

I, basically made the mistake of getting myself a PS2, which for the last 2 years has sat doing nothing because the games I have been playing on PC have frankly been superior and I really prefer the mouse/keyboard setup when playing games (I realise I might be in the minority here). Plus my PC can do a lot of other things too.
