Last week, I bought IL-2 1946 DVD at EB Games. It's version 4.07 out of the box. Then I just downloaded the 4.08 patch. Version 4.08 is the latest one.

Good to hear you've recovered.

As allways IL-2 uses incremental install patches meaning you need a working version to get to the next one.
4.08 for PF standalone does not exist.
4.08m for FB+AEP+PF is the latest.
for 4.04 (assuming it's PF standalone and not 4.04m PF merged) to get to 4.08m you would need:
FB
AEP
PF (you have that, but in merged install over FB+AEP)
* pf_v303m.exe (100 Mb; goes over v3.0m)
* pf_v401m.exe
* pf_v402m.exe
* pf_403m.exe
* pf_patch404m.exe (21.8MB)
4.05m Pe2 add-on (pay-for DL through Boonty)
4.06m Sturmoviks over Manchuria (Pay-for DL through Boonty)
4.07m Sturmovik 1946 (pay-for DL through Boonty)
Best would be to buy the Sturmovik 1946 DVD set that will bring you to 4.07m in one go and includes FB, AEP,PF.
Sturmovik is available in the stores in Europe and Australia - no retail in the USA AFAIK.
You can buy it through play.com, gogamer.com and other online shops.
I would recommend NWS -Online.net (http://yhst-12000246778232.stores.yahoo.net/ilst19.html) that has superb support and unbeatable prices.
After you are at 4.07m you only need 4.08m free patch for the game (don't take the dedicated server patch) best d/l-ed from www.gamershell.com (http://www.gamershell.com) (search for 4.08)
The price of the DVD set is less than what you would pay for the pay-for downloads combined.

To get to version 4.08 you need to download THREE addons.

1) "Pe-2"

2) "Sturmoviks Over Manchuria"

3) and a what if scenario addon called "1946."

and then the 4.08 patch which is free (a one hundred fiftyfive MB patch)

I'm not sure the cost of the downloaded add ons, but it's probably close to the price of the single DVD called IL-2 1946.

In this DVD (IL-2 1946) contains ALL the IL2 materials released from Forgotten Battles forward through ver. 4.04 and including all the addon I mentioned previously. It has missions from the original IL-2 Sturmovik game....a DVD disc previewing "Storm of War: Battle of Britain.".... a 450 page PDF file detailing most of the cockpits in the game....and a new joystick control setting.

It's the easiest way to get yourself up to snuff with the IL-2 community and play online with most servers.

No more will you have to jump through hoops making sure you have the right patch order. One ten minute installation and boom! you're done.

I know you can order it online through GoGamer.com. It will be or is very close to being available in stores in the U.S.

I highly recommend getting Il2-1946. If you have some computer or hardware trouble and loose your game, you will be sorry not to have a dvd in your hands!

Note: The downloadable IL2 1946 add-on includes these three addons:
- Pe-2
- Manchuria
- 1946
(You do not even have to patch FB-AEP-PF to 4.04m, it can be installed over 3.00m)

See here:1946 is available for download (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/1711047325?r=1711047325#1711047325)

(I'm not advising you to get the download, neither am I saying you should get the DVD.
Just wanted to make sure you get some correct information http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif)
