Hi guys,

I need to buy a new PC but want to make sure this one DOES run Assasins Creed.
Can't be too expensive though.

Was wondering if any of these graphics cards would run the game - and which one is the best of the three?

NVIDIA GeForce G210
ATI Radeon 5450
Intel GMA X4500

Thanks

What's your budget for the graph. card?

Not had much experience of NVIDIA or Intel, but the ATI card should run AC fine.

It's not as much the graphics card, but more the pc that goes with it.
Narrowed it down to two options now:
A pc with a ATI Radeon 5450 and a pc with a ATI Radeon HD5570.
I know the second one is much better, but the first pc comes to 430 instead of 630 (latter one).
Any thoughts?

Is it a laptop or what xD? Honestly... Those graphics cards were NOT meant for gaming... What resolution will you be playing on, and on what ingame graphic settings?

P.S. for 630 quid u can get a decent enouff gaming pc.. With DECENT graphics xD!

I've got and Ati radeon HD 2600 and it runs AC2 find on highest res with med graphics, what's the problem with those cards? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

my PC cost 480 - and wasn't marketed as a gaming pc..

4GB ram Intel Q8300 [4x2.5ghz] and an GTS250 GPU..

runs AC2 at 1600x900 everything on max - and pulls in 35 to 60 frames per second.. which I don't think is that bad?

Quite surprised at the GTs 250 - plays most games at high perfectly [maybe not 60fps but it's smooth and looks great] - but maybe down to other components too ?

Mine is a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, apparently that's awful for gaming...

I'm on a Mac though, so I very rarely game.

Yeah I use Steam to, Portal and Team Fortress 2, they run ok, but my 2 GB RAM means I can't full the max settings, I need to get more.

I've got a Radeon HD 4850, and its a good card, and relatively cheap http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Or, if you want to shell out a bit more, the 5850 is apparently awesome

I've always wondered, since the mac mouses only have 1 button, how do you create an orange portal? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

With a mouse - Go into your preferences and set it so that if you click on the right side of the mouse it's a right click :P Or just cmd+click.

With a trackpad - Set it so a certain area on the trackpad is right click, or just click with two fingers.

Mr_Shade

indeed... Macs users can use 'right click' a lot tbh..

Modern Mac mice have both left and right.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Along with a fab roller ball.

I love the scroll ball, it's fantastic. I think apple has the edge on the trackpad/mouse side of their computers, say what you will about the other aspects.

Have you seen the new trackpad for desktop Macs? It's awesome!

Some guy ripped the insides out of a Macbook Air, and managed to fit them inside his keyboard a trackpad. Now that's a portable computer!

It's pretty cool, but isn't a laptop just a computer inside a keyboard housing with a trackpad and monitor attached anyway?

I recommend the ATI Radeon 5970 HD Video Card Driver. It is after all the world's fastest Video Card of 2010 and i have it.

It's quite simple - HD2600 is a gaming card, while none of those cards were actually meant for gaming, but rather HTCP servers or media stations. You can look up benchmarks all over the web. For example i'd say a GT210 is capable of a similar performance than 9400M. HD5450 falls in about that range as well, while HD5570 is slightly better, but not by a huge margin. Assassin's creed is definitely not a demanding game, but still - you can't call cca. 30 fps on medium to low settings smooth gameplay -_-, though by all standards deemed playable. I could go as far as to say HD2600, though quite old, can spew out similar performance than the latter (it actually depends if it's a Pro or XT..). Given the information, there is absolutely nothing that would recomment those graphics cards for any type of gaming.

Btw Shade, GTS250 is a previous generation mid-range gaming card - or 2 generations ago - being practically rebadged GTX9800 - a high end graphics card, ATI's equivalent being HD4830/HD4850 -> something in between. And yes it's down to speed/architecture of your processor, speed and amount of your ram and your graphics card - to roughly summarize. Basically you shouldn't have anything bottlenecking performance - your computer is as good as its weakest part.

It's down to the thread starter to decide, what kind of gameplay one wants - low, mid or high graphics and the resolution one will play on. Apart from that is one comfortable with 30 - 50 fps, or does one want a constant 50/60+?

Like I said the ATI Radeon 5970 HD is the one you want. You can go up to 40-75 FPS on this card for this game.

Just for the record - no, one definitely doesn't need the HD5970... It's an obvious overkill and it's hugely overpriced.

There are quite a few decent sub 100$ cards that you can get.

You can get one on Newegg for cheap

Mine is ATI Radeon HD5770 1Gb Sapphire, I play on 1360Xsomething resolution, the card will be enough for new releases on that resolution according to me.

I'm using a GIGABYTE RADEON HD4550 GV-R455D3-512I 512MB HDMI PCI-E RETAIL and the game runs well enough at 1680x1050
