These are some of the best sounds I have ever heard. Much better than any other RTS game including Age Of Empires 3.

The game is due to be released in 2 days.(Can't Wait.)

Well, I advance-ordered it. That's nice, but it is the cleanest battlefield in creation. No persistant smoke, dust, or haze. No fires. No dust trails obscuring vehicle columns. Man! Talk about free fire zones! You can see everything! I hope this is a dumbed down version.

We have to wait and see what the retail version brings. Maybe there is some option to turn more effects on so it looks more like a real battlefield.

I hope so---even if it lacks those effects, it is REALLY nice!

The planes sound EXACTLY like Il2 planes to me. Not my cup of tea - so I will never be buying it. But if it were my cup of tea I think it looks sterile and arcadish too boot.

Arcadish?! I've never seen an arcade game with so much dead-on detail and accuracy. If it had persistent smoke and dust it would be very realistic. As it is, it's light years away from electric toys like BLITZKRIEG.

Looks promising. I hope the gameplay lives up to the graphics and sound.

If the planes look like IL-2, that's because they are the planes from IL-2. I understand that MG traded planes for some vehicles, that we'll be seeing in BoB.

Oh its detailed I'll give you that. But detail does not negate arcadeish IMHO. I think the movement of the individual soldiers is unrealistic. I think that they are all acting like little Rambo's. I think this is what bugs me the most.

I think it would be more realistic if they acted like they were afraid of getting killed - which I don't think that they do. They stick their heads up like the dumb asses that they are.

I think that most of them should be huddled together behind a wall while 2 or three of them do all the aggressive activity. Instead they are all spread out too far apart. Their behaviour is idealized. In the real world you WOULD want them to behave like they do in the game. That way they would not get wiped out by a single arty round. But real men under fire are very hesitant to separate them selves from a group of their fellows.

I think the explosions are weak. A little puff of dirt then nothing, but this has already been touched on.

Before you feel the need to leap to the defence of the game - please relax. I am not telling you your kid is ugly and can't play football ok http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It's just an opinion. I already mentioned it's not my cup of tea. Neither is the U-boat game (can't remember the name of that game even now!) Won't be getting the Torpedo boat game either - even though both subject interest me greatly. Before computers came along I used to wargame on a sand table with 1:285th scale and before that 1:72 scale stuff. I just wish it were better that's all.

I hated Avalon Hill's Squad Leader - and this looks like computerized Squad Leader. Just realized that! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Quite frankly, at this stage of computer game design anything attempting to show human beings in mass action will look stilted and phony---that's a given. I had already lamented the clean battlefield in my first post. Kindly spare the avuncular condescension---it ain't "our" game, we're just buying it.

Consider that whatever they used to record that more than likely does not do the actual in game look and sound justive.. although I thought it sounded nice.. and I don't think the planes sounded like IL2 either... That sounded like stereo to me.. We shall see thats for sure.

I'm ashamed to say I must be setting my bar too low http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I looking forward to the release of TOW, and by supporting this genre perhaps we'll see it develop into something greater. I still remember what those early flight sims looked like http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I pre-ordered mine and can't wait too. I'm also looking forward to the PT Boat game. I used to play a lot of Apache Longbow and I can see that being along those lines.

I thought it's been mentioned that Maddox wants to tie all these new games together in an online war. Or maybe it was just a dream. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I also remember those early flight sims and not believing how great they looked.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
