Hi all,
Just a post to say I've finally got through the works firewall and thought I'd say hello. Been playing FB for about a year now and don't seem to be getting any better but having awesome fun not progressing! Split my time equally between flying (offline), making missions and movies, which I dropped onto DVD to convince a couple of mates and my bro to commit their 20's to a worthwhile game. Anyway - been reading the posts for most of the year, but being offshore no real chance of joining in till now.

I have a few hours in gliders and my girlfriend bought me a lesson in a Tigermoth for my birthday which I'll be taking in the next few weeks when I can get down to the centre of the universe (Yorkshire!!) in June. I've loved all the passionate debates about realism, flight models, DM's etc over the months - my tuppence worth is if you've never experienced severe negative gee, don't wish for what you don't know just in case you get it! It's what made me give up on gliders - positive gee no problem but tiring - have pulled 4g for several minutes in a good thermal and it is AMAZING how heavy your hands can become.

Well - guess I'll leave it at that for now - just to say this is the most amazing game with the most amazing crew both playing it and writing it - just remember when you're getting all het up on whichever topic means most to you how lucky you are to have a game that inspires this level of passion.

Cheers for now - will work ou how to post a sig etc later.

PS: In case anyone in the North of the UK didn't know - there's a Spit in the Transport Museum in Glasgow Mk XIX I think - thing of beauty she really is!

Welcome to the Asylum mate!

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Not the chattiest bugger in the world but I'll chip in when I've (hopefully) got something of value to add.

The girlfriend is one to treasure - as well as looking gorgeous, having a fab personality and even trying FB a couple of times (she successfully landed an La5FN on Kronstadt which is more than I managed 5 mins later - hmphh!) she also used to build fast jets at an engineering grad - harriers and hawks, plus being petite they used to send her inside buccaneer wings to do NDT - now that's what I call knowing your way round a plane...

Well - more later - mine's a pint!
