Just went from 4.9's to 4.10's with a 9800 pro on perfect. (Water=2, trees=2) Went from ~10 FPS to ~50FPS! Thank you ATI! Like a whole new video card! If you have a 9800 pro get these now!
w00t! w00t!

Anyone with 9600XT using this new driver. I'd like to know if there's improvement.

Thx

I just installed the 4.10s for a 9700 Pro. Previously 4.7s. Just d/l'd the driver and kept the old Control Panel.

At same settings, there was a 7 fps increase on Black Death. The new images are also much sharper.

No doubt about it. These are great drivers.

I just D/L it.

Am I supposed to kill off the old drivers first or just go over them?

Hope this works well with my 9800Pro 128 meg card. Sounds fantastic!

In windows, go to Control Panel and then go to Add/Remove Software. Remove the ATi driver display and the ATi control panel. Reeboot and then install the new driver and control panel. Reeboot and you're ready to go. You could also install the new Catalyst Control Centre, if you wanted, although opinions are mixed about how useful it is.

RocketDog.

Got 'em installed. Looks nice!

Was a lazy shmoo and put them in right over the 4.09s and got lots of tearing in the graphics. Then uninstalled, and installed again after killing all old ATI drivers. Everything is fine now.

Not sure about any speed up, but I did notice a bit more depth in the colours. But maybe that's just me.

Aviar

I gave up on Omega after it crashed my system several times. I'm not fancy on oveerclocking my video card either.

A couple of thoughts on performance:
1. Last I heard the human eye can only detect up to 60 frames per secound, so theres no need to try and beat that. What NVIDIA has done is geared its rendering software to fade the frames together giving the illusion of a smother image. If anyonw has tried "Star Wars Battlefront" yet youll notice the game runs at 20 fps, and is smooth as glass. You can't speed up the frames no matter what you try.

2.ATI just keeps trying to get more horse power out of the hardware. The new CAT4.10 is amazing as far as cranking up the rendering speed. I've read from some reputable sources that the average increase in performance from CAT4.09 to CAT4.10 is 15 to 20%, which is really darn good just for a software upgrade!

3. I think in the future evertone is going to follow NVIDIA's lead. It's takes less hourse power to get a good image and saves it for running more complicated algorythms for the games.

Anyone have the ATI TV pro pci card mixed with an ATI 9800 Pro 256. And running the 4.10's

I tried the 4.9 and they made my TV card not record. So I'm sitting around with the 4.8's

Toad,
I have the tv Wonder Pro card and a 9800, cat 4.10. I have never used the MutiMedia Centre from ATI, I have found the picture quality and sound problems to be pathetic, but that being said, I have no problems when I upgraded to 4.10 using my Intervideo DVR2 tv software.
What problems in record were you having? no sound, delayed sound, bad picture?

ps. I wish ATI would update their WDM video capture drivers, the last driver is dated 01/23/04

Hmmm, for me 4.10 are much slower than 4.9, especially over the forests. Mayby for 256 MB cards there is improvement, but for my RADEON 9700 not. Are You using DirectX 9.0c ??? - I still have 9.0b, hmmmm.......

Ok, I have now had a chance to have a good look at this topic. These new drivers have worked for me also but I did seem to need SP2 to make the difference, I just wasn't getting smooth increased frame rates sub SP2.

I don't honestly know how much SP2 does actually have to do with 4.10 drivers but I can honestly say I am getting a visible improvement in graphics performance with the SP2 and 4.10 combo. Oh and .Net framework installed also.

Cheers,

make sure you hard drives are on DMA mode and have a look at http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3540.html
if you have a VIA motherboard.
There are alternatives to the MultiMedia Centre from ATI, Intervideo DVR works well for me, Snapstream(.com) has a new version out and I am looking forward to the new version of DScaler(.org) Out of all I have tried, Intervideo is simple and works well, DScaler is high performance and free. Wait for the new version, beyond Version 4.18, there will be new architecture.

That's what I was getting until yesterday. Every time I tried to fly with perfect mode I'd see cr@p like that or I'd get a lockup.

Is it required to install the 4.10s after SP2 is installed? Or is it ok to install SP2 after installing the 4.10s? I've already installed the 4.10s already but I don't see very much difference.

I'm also hesitant about installing SP2 after all the bad things I've heard about it though...

Basically the game plays about the same with Excellent or Perfect (0,1,2) settings.
In The Black Death track, the in-game fps counter says around 30 avarage at the end, being Ecellent the slowest (!) at around 28/29, and Perfect 0 the fastes at 31/32.
Image quality is very good, and I run it OpenGL, 1152x864x32, AA 2x, AT 4x, trilinear teaxture mipmap and S3TC texture compression in IL-2 setup.

XP Pro SP2
Barton 2800+

I like to use DC3 as a safety precautio. The ATI uninstaller does a nice job. You can try without the DC3 use. IF you still run into issues use DC3
