Grrrrrr

I wanted to order this FW 190 DVD off of ebay, but its PAL and my PS2 dvd player only plays region 1 disks. This sucks. I wanted to get something that would modify my PS2 to play these dvd's but DVD region X only works for UK dvd players. ****it.

Action Replay Max, cheaper than Gameshark, has a DVD X feature. Otherwise, I recommend a multi-region format DVD and TV for anyone outside the US, or US people (like me in the USAF) who go overseas.

you can watch it on your pc if you have a dvd player, or get one if you dont, they are great.

At the moment windows media player is convinced mine is set to region 8 and I can't find anywhere they has a region selection. Windows help said to check the properties of the dvd-rom under the device manager which I did but there isnt a region choice there.

Be careful that you don't permanently set your PC dvd player to a different zone though. I use XP and WinDvd which allows me to change the zones on my pc but only 5 or 6 times. It will stick on the last one.

All is not lost, now these links are pointing to the UK PS2 as that is where i am, but I should imagine similar products are available for your side of the pond that converts the PS2 to multi region.........

You can also play DVDs from any region on a domestic PS2 if you buy a DVD Region X disc (about $20) or a Game Shark 2. Try searching ebay for them.

BUT MAKE SURE THE DISK IS FOR YOUR REGION FIRST.

Make a backup of your DVD with DVD Shrink and set it to "region free".

Use Video Lan Player, it can play any region wihtout permanantly changing anything. I often watch movies in pal and it works just fine.

Google for "dvd genie" - if you run that first you can change the region as may times as you like

DVD Genie only works if your drive is before Jan 1st 2000 after that they are nearly all if not nearly all are region specific and allow only 5 changes
