I am a total newbee to flight sim having had FB about 3 weeks. Am looking forward to going online, but have much work to do on gunnery, manuevers, landings etc before I do. For example, it took me over an hour and numerous retrys to bring down a PE 8 with a 109 when practicing aerial gunnery, and it was a friendly! I can barely scratch the paint on a PE 3 on veteran setting when it's hostile. I have become quite adept at bailing out. Fighters I haven't tried yet. Much to learn.

I can't get the gunsight to appear on later 109's or the 190's. Any help on this? My favorite russian fighter is the MIG-3, but I usually fly luftwaffe (109's). Just thought I'd say hello and am still practicing.

A noobie question for sure /i/smilies/16x16_robot-very-happy.gif

Try shift-F1 Dave

Try using slow but sweet Polish P11c (listed under USSR object viewer). He/she is sweet to fly. You get 4 small guns, and try them on...lemme think...

Try P11c out against equally old TB~3 bomber.

I have not tried this yet, but maybe if you set the enemy bomber weapons load to EMPTY, they won't fire back. Beats firing on friendly for practice. That always kinda made me feel sick.

and then "graduate" to more modern aircraft like fb109.

Welcome corvette,

You don't have to make bombers friendly to keep them from shooting back at you. You can select them as enemy and set their loadout to be empty. Also set their skill level to rookie, and increase it as your confidence grows.

Try shooting at wing roots and engines.

Shift+F1 works in all aircraft, not just German planes.

Keep checking back here for more info. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

Mike

Hello.

Get in close to your targets (way under 0.20Km). Set your convergence to different settings to see what best fits you. Try 250 meters for example. Like michapma said, set the enemy AI to an empty load-out for target practice. At least they will do some evasive maneuvers.

Try the P-39.

Mig3 is an okay plane, but be careful it catches fire easily. Right now I recommend you fly the La5 or La7 when ya first go online. they are fast, forgiving, and have good firepower. Be careful on the ground taxing though, tap on the brakes going more than 20-30kph they nose over easily.

P39s are okay, but don't have the greatest climb rate, and you could get in trouble if someone like me in a 109G or 109K stumble upon ya /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif . The late model P39s have the ability to outrun 109s though.

You have to come down sometime and when you do I'll make sure my nose is pointed in your direction.

Welcome aboard. I have had the game now for two months. I'v been playing online for three weeks. I still suck. I I have three online kills. I'v been shot down atleast a thousand times.
What im getting at is that it is a hard sim to lern. Evan more so if you have never owned a flying sim. It may help a little if you ajust your joystick.
Try and lern some monuvers, and keep practicing. There are alot of people who have been running flying sim's for years. Online you will get blown out of the sky more times than you can count. You will get fustrated.
But don't be afraid to play online, there are lot's of people who will help, they have good advice and you will meet some interesting people.

Good luck.
