Hi

My friends and I have been playing a pretty standard il2 1946 co-op campaign (Smolensk area, fighting as russians) for the last week or so to give us some much needed practice. We intend to fly a DCG generated campaign next week but there are a few things I don't quite understand. I have looked on the DCG forum but the traffic is much lighter than here so, well, I thought id post here.

In the stock co-op campaigns (ie non DCG ones), most of the missions seem almost identical... always CAP, with the odd escort mission. Never any ground attacks, shipping attacks, convoy or train attacks. Do we need to select a certain type of plane in order to fly more varied missions (we're currently flying LaGG's) I don't want to fly completely fighter mission or completely bomber missions fighter/bomber would be far more interesting.. any suggestions?

On that note, can anyone suggest an early, mid campaign, that has plenty of action and varied missions that would be enjoyable to fly. I prefer playing Allied campaigns.

A few other small points about DCG itself..

If I check the No Transfers option does that mean I will never fly a 'squadron is transferring to x airfield' mission (which I sometimes like doing) or only that I wont switch from airfield to airfield between missions?

If I check ˜massed bombers' does that make all bomber flights huge? If so, does that have an impact on the outcome of the campaign with so many bombers now dropping bombs on targets? Does this also increase the number of fighters that escort them and the size of fighter groups sent up to intercept them?

If I fully replace NGen with DCG can I still tweak the campaigns? eg, I can create a RAF squadron flying in the Lvov 41 campaign (or any other for that matter) when I manually generate a Lvov 41 campaign in DCG but if I fully replace NGen I just get a list of Campaigns in the IL2 menu which when selected don't seem to reflect the settings I made in DCG.. ie no RAF squadron. Am i doing something wrong or is it just not possible?

Is it possible to NOT display the opposing side's active aircraft during the plane roster screen just before the mission? At present, me and my mates choose what planes we're flying and try not to look at what the enemy will be putting into the air but it would be better this info just weren't shown. If I make all enemy planes AI only will this remove them from the list?

I know that DCG tracks plane losses to the squadron etc as the campaign progresses so I'd like to know what exactly constitutes a plane lost result.. if I don't put my plane down at the home airfield does that count as plane lost? If I put it down back at base but flip the plane or wreck its engine on landing does that count as plane lost? Sometimes when I land I ˜bail out' just so im out of my plane.. does DCG count that as a bail out in the air?

Finally, can someone suggest any addon or utility that will keep track of our pilots kills (ground/ air etc), number of sorties flown, and medals awarded etc?

These are more IL2 questions but any help would be appreciated...

Is there a setting which removes the AI plane icons from the Map Screen but keeps friendlies? At present we fly with map icons turned on so we can regroup the squad relatively painlessly if it scatters.. however, this also displays ALL airbourne AI planes which is kindof like AWACS for WW2 which obviously we're not so keen on.

Can someone explain the pro's and con's of MG/Cannons? Cannons wreck more havoc when they hit and I tend to prefer them but is there a reason for using MG's rather than cannons in certain circumstances?

Many thanks

Andy
