With some aircraft in IL2 we have default summer & winter skins, these appear to be hard coded.

Would it be possible to also apply a default North African skin for aircraft, as well as a land based skin for fighters used in the pacific eg green skins for A6M2-21 if land based

This has to be programmed

I understand this, & it is not an issue for single player campaigning as it can already be done. But for online playing it would add a level of "immersion". It would be nice to see desert skinne 109F4s & 190As. As well as correctly comouflaged A6M2_21s.

The next patch is going to alter our default skins, I am wondering if this sort of programming request has any sort of merit.

It would be possible from a technical POV - look at the different defaults for the Bf 109 G-2's of the Luftwaffe and their finnish Allies. But as BBB462cid said it would require programming and this was ruled out by Maddox Games. Too bad - it would have been nice to get some decent desert skins or "grey" 190s in the West http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I gather it would be a rather large reprogram, if not maybe some community support for this thread may be viable??

Bump

No. One of Oleg's rules for his OK for new default skins was not to have any programming work to be done by Maddox Games. Community or not - the incorporation of the texture and the code changes would have to be done by Maddox Games and they won't do it. Period.
