328 Graber?

Sorry, my best guess for the year is around the late 30's, maybe 37'.

Hmm, and I thought "Garber" had nothing to do with it. I thought that was something the owner had added. How dumb of me not to have checked that! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

A guy on another forum said that Garber was a Swiss coachbuilder and that this could be a 1937 BMW "Garber Spezial".

Spezial? That makes sense. If you look at pics of the 37, you'll see the lower parts of the body don't go quite as low as the one in the pic. To me, it looked customized but to be honest I didn't think anyone could be so stupid as to modify something like that. My other thought was maybe it could be a kitcar, but it doesn't have the characteristics of a kitcar.

So, "Spezial" sounds logical.

BTW, I noticed on the oil gauge they didn't use the umlaut. Was it normal to not use the umlaut in 1937?

I guess it was. The gauge was made in Stuttgart.

Nah, it looked really authentic. No sane person would customize a classic BMW 327/328. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

About the oil gauge, I also wondered about that. Many old German cars from the pre-World War II period have "Oel" instead of "Íl". No idea why. Let me ask some of the guys at this show next time around. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
