I thought I had this right , but must have slipped up somewhere - I opened zip, moved a/c skins to proper place, made new folder in de/Campaigns titled Against Overwelming Odds 7 put all that was left in it...but I don't get any indication of this campaign when I try it in the game...Since it doesn't appear to be self extracting ,what should I do? Extract to Forgotten battles from the zip or to de/campaigns , or what ? Need a little help so I can fly these neat birds more! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

From looking at the . zip file, it has file paths listed for the files.
You should extract it to your
.../Ubi Soft/IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles
directory with "use file names" checked in the winzip window. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
That's the same way mine are packed. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Take note of the bird_, he's got it right.
If you want to make sure, unzip to the desktop and copy the folders 'Missions' and 'PaintSchemes' to the directory 'Il-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles' on your hard drive.
Cheers!

Looking forward to flying a little rocket Dunklegrun...I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet, but if no one has mentioned it yet, thanks for all the hard work! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
I know that it is all worthwhile if someone just bothers to post back what they think of your work. I'll let you know how it goes. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hats off to this Campaigns Designers - Loving it so far. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Can the Komet in IL2FB land on the Grass runways
Marked with the Campfires?.
I always land fine on the Games runways (cement or Grass) but if you attempt to land on the Campfire marked runways in the Campaign its instant doom for me while the AI land just fine.

Love the Intro Movie of Spate's first combat mission - although half way through his RED Kommet is exchanged for Cammo paint -- Just to be Picky. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Great to have the fuel at 50% makes things much more challenging.

The more realistic the better I say.

Thanks again for this fantastic Campaign http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

Does anyone know where the fuel (or stoff as its called) gauge is on the 163?

There isn't one. A red warning light comes on when you have about one minute's fuel (at full power) left. Go to the right of the artificial horizon, next gauge is the variometer, the light is below and right of that.
There is a T-Stoff consumption indicator (bottom right dial on main panel) that tells you how quickly you are burning the stuff, but not how much is left.
Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words guys. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
As for the runways, I CAN land on the marked-out grass areas, but not elegantly as I always seem to dig the nose into the dirt. The approach speed has to be really slow to get it right, well under 200kph, which calls for very fine judgement when gliding in with no fuel left to tweak things.
IRL they landed on grass to try and prevent the possibility of damage to the skid - and the pilot! Several of them got very bad back injuries through hard landings.
Oops. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif. I'll have to look at the opening track again.
Cheers!

Thanks, Dunkelgrun!

Great campaign, by the way, even though landing the d**n thing is doing my head in! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

The only problem with landing on Grass in IL2FB is that there is too much Friction which tends to tip the plane Nose over (Even though the real plane had this tendancy).

Apparently the Real ME163 could take up to 500M to stop on wet grass.

I just finished the Campaign - AND SURVIVED

Total Victories = 17

I lost one Komet due to hits on the Starboard wing with fuel leak - that caused massive instability.
I managed to gain control, dump speed and Bail.

I lost another Komet again with Sarboard wing damage - Fuel leak that Caused a fire while on landing approach - bailed out OK.

Lost one BF110 - Pilot and Gunner bailed OK.

Was Awsome fun http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Excellent work m8! Seventeen kills isn't bad either. I hope that total doesn't include any friendlies http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Dear Infopoop - Still getting nowhere downloading this campaign...No Noobie me - I 've downloaded tons of missions but this one throws me a curve.I made a folder titled for this campaign in de/campaigns & dropped everything there.( after it was unzipped that is...Nothing. Then I transferred all the skins to their respective aircraft and left all the other campaign gen in the folder- still no campaign showed up in the game. Next I used the zip extract tool to extract to the folder Against O. Odds directly.Nothing. Finally I extracted to C;/Ubisoft/IL-2 FB file& still no indication that it is working...( I did leave my original folder Against Overwhelming Odds in place during each attempt...) What is it that I have done wrong? Boy do I wish this was a self extracting file...Oh well should I try for a clean install & erase the other trys? Help!

I too have to admit this campaign is a lot of fun and very different. I was originally turned off by the plane because no one wants to deal with it in dogfights and rightly so. So I really didn't have a chance to try this plane out until this campaign came out.

This thing is extremely nerve racking to fly but quite an enjoyable challenge. Probably the most difficult part is the landing. I saw the AI land and its landing skill just blew me away. I always manage to shatter the "ski."

HEHE - Nope NO friendlies were harmed during the Campaign. That was a nice twist THAT mission http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

EDIT: I played the Campaign FULL Switch other than having Mini-map path's switched on to simulate Ground vectoring.

Well... I was making this way too complex wasn't I ? Got it to install in the simplest possible way ( but did have to delete all my previous efforts...) Now I reside in a smoking hole at the end of the runway thanks to a few little misjudgements in landing flare...Love the film videos ie ther any way to save them for viewing again as tracks or something???

" God Help me , I love the smell of Computer wiring smoking in the morning!"
