The very generous Lady Jambo has said she will buy me a new watch for our wedding anniversary next weekend http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

I've started looking at U-Boat / Submariners watches and quite like them. I haven't found any metal strap versions, I presume they weren't used but it would be nice to have the choice.

I wanted to ask if anyone has one or knows of any good websites or retailers for them?

This is the kind of thing I mean:

Maybe Mrs Jambo would like something equally generous in returnhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Another reason why Goose_Green is single once again, women can be quite expensive http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

A wall mounted flat screen TV for the bedroom should cover it I think. I hope! Hardly romantic I grant you, but I know she'd love one.

RJ

One month ago I set my eyes on them and requested a pricelist from the manufacturer.

They range between 1.200 € to 2.600 €, while the two models made of gold are well over 20.000 €.

Here is the link: U-boat (http://www.u-boa****ch.com/)

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS $HIT!!!!!!

Beacuse the link says "u-boat watch.com" (without a space between boat and watch) this lousy auto editor treats it as T.W.A.T and wouldn't have any of it!

@Messervy - the 'U-boat' watches brand (Italian) is indeed very expensive (and very nice!), but the watches RJ is looking at are much cheaper (approx. 100 Euros) and are made by 'Tauchmeister 1937' (German), the same company who also produce the excellent 'Aeromatic 1912' replica aviator watches:

http://www.tauchmeister1937.de

http://www.aeromatic1912.de

@RJ - I bought two of these watches from www.watchstore24.de (http://www.watchstore24.de) a couple of years ago. Very good watches for the price, and very comfortable too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c188/VikingG/47a89607.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c188/VikingG/29274eb3.jpg

The second one is my favourite. I love the extra thick glass lens http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT - watchstore24.de have metal straps:

http://www.watchstore24.de/index.php?cPath=31

If you prefer a metal strap, maybe email them to ask for advice about which to get for your preferred watch. They were very helpful when I contacted them (one of the watches I ordered had a slight defect with the lettering on the face - they exchanged it and also gave me discount on another watch that I bought for my father http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

Thanks to everyone who has posted, very helpful!

@ Messervy - I don't think Mrs. Jambo was expecting the 20,000 Euro price tag - I'll have to be very very good to get that one! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

@ VG - I think I'll definitely be placing an order at Tauchmeister just got to choose which one! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Thanks gsc67. It's our 5th Anniversary so we decided to make a bit of a celebration out of it - hence the watch... which, I've just ordered http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I went for the T0016 in the end, and ordered a stainless steel strap as well as the leather one so I can choose which suits it, and me the best. Thanks for all your help everyone!

Very nice RJ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Looks like the watch company might do well for business in the coming weeks.

RJ, are you getting any commission for plugging this company and it's products? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif No I'm not. That said though, I'd be happy to approach the company in question if there were enough demand from the forum to negotiate a discount for us all to benefit from http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Who know's?

PS - nice watch you have there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Have you tried the metal strap yet?

I was surprised at the large size too, but I think I've grown into it now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not yet, I'll need a jeweller to fit it I think. That said, the leather strap hasn't become sweaty or uncomfortable so far ao I may just leave it as it is for now.

Don't we have good taste! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
