I raced down yesterday evening and grabbed a copy of PF. All excited I raced back home and loaded it both as an add on and as stand alone.

Then I go to fire it up and get this

I would if only I knew what you were asking...

You know you have to put the image on a web server... right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ARGH POOP!

Things have changed here for images.

OK the initiate screen comes up (the nice one with the rear view of a torpedo run. Then a mongrel little window comes over the top of it with the heading
"Cannot locate the CD-ROM"
and inside saying
"CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game"

Just uninstall your CDClone or Virtual CD and all will be well

You must uninstall CD-Clone or Alcohol, or any similar program before you can run PF. It's an old abusive 'putada' that UBI makes in its new programs for fighting piracy... by forcing you to uninstall other software that you may use legal and legitimally... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

BTW, 'putada' is a very bad Spanish word used to designate any very bad thing done to others. Not to use in the presence of -Spanish speaking- children.

Same problem that I and lots of other people had http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Apparently UBI has decided that certain software isn't allowed when playing PF. I think that Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools and CloneCD is on the list... You'll have to uninstall them to play the game. Personally I use Daemon Tools with legitimite software... It just sucks!

Also, I'm not sure but I think that when playing you have to have the CD in the same drive as you installed from.

Do you know what the sweet irony is?

The pirates can have mounting tools installed and play the game at the same time, because they have to use a no cd crack. It is only people with legitimate copies of the CD that are affected by this.

solution for this problem is that anyone who use that software just put them inactive on startup and start them only when you need them and pacific should run just fine

Wow, thanks heaps fellas.

I had to uninstall my CloneCD and up she came. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Shame about the uninstall. I know they are trying to stop that P word, but it's kinda like putting extra locks all over your front door. It only seems to keep the honest ones out. The Crooks, especially the ones making money out of that kinda activity, still know how to get in.

On that note I would prefer not to discuss all the potential ways to do things as this may only educate the not so smart crooks. Not that there would be any here I hope. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I have Pacific Fighters LEGALLY without a no-cd crack. Though I can still run Alcohol. It didn't say anything about mountingtools at the installation. Though when I tried to make an image of my PF cd2 I could mount it but it wasn't recognizing it. I also can't make a backup of my PF disks as I hate to play with the original disks. In the past some LEGAL cd's were broken and scratched on LAN parties, so you know why I really want to have a backup of them.

I know, it is an anti-piracy thingy, but I have the right to back them up, right? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

There's a couple of options in Alcohol that will stop this error from coming up, I had it with Sims 2, found the options, and it worked fine. PF didn't even say anything.

Once I get home I'll post screenshots of my Alcohol config so anyone with Alcohol installed can make sure they have it set so that it should work.

That would be great, Dukayn, but I'm not sure if it's safe to post in a forum where pirates may check out how to do it.

Maybe you could PM it to some peeps, like me? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

if u wana keep ur CloneCD/Alcohol 120% and Deamontools, and stil play PF, the best solution is

www.gamecopyworld.com (http://www.gamecopyworld.com)

i use this regulary to not wear out my original CD's (have killed 2 of my 3 Quake2 CD's)

Nah, I don't want to crack it for some reason, I just want to play with a backup cd/mounted image so that the originals would be untouched to prevent scratched cd's etc.

For example: I can't even play my Battlefield 1942 anymore because Disk 2 was litteraly broken into 4 pieces when someone drove his chair over it on a LAN party... ouch http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Hoatee

I presume the cd musta been on the floor (unless the chair was perhaps being flown eh....driven somewhere above).

In which case you should learn to be tidy.
