I personally know people who touted their new 1946 DVD box, which they got for Christmas. They considered it very good value for the money, the price was about half of the 'normal' stupid games. Little they knew that they paid only for the 2 add-ons, everything else they got for free - like all hardcore players who have each CD already. The funnies part was that these people bought the old FB as well, from the discount bin at the cashier, it was so "cheap" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So I think '46 did help a lot to bring fresh people into the genre and also bring back a lot of people that left since the beginning. Those are the know-it-all guys with post counts 3-5 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You are right Bearcat.
But I noticed one thing. Because the game was not released in stores in North America, if you check the players in Hyperlobby, Most of the new players are from Europe. This is great for our European friends. During evening hours in Europe there are around 1000 players online. During evening in North America we are only around 300-350 online. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

They lost so many potential customers this side of the pond. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
This was the most stupid mistake since the release of this game. Sorry for being harsh but to me it looks plain that: Stupid. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You are totally correct sir and whoever mentioned that most of the newbies are not from the U.S. is also correct. I've noticed a couple of new guys on the War Clouds server and they were both of the dirty rotten foreigner type http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif. IIRC the one on TS was one of them crazy drunk Canucks but I'm not sure as he didn't have much of an accent and he never said "eh", despite being quite chatty with lots of good questions. I gave him a "don't give up" as he left and he seemed willing to stick with it despite the steep learning curve. I hope to see him up again.

It kind of reminds me of the days when Air Warrior first hit AOL. Tons of new guys just waiting to be shot down. Of course, a few months later it wasn't so nice but hey, a Mig on your six is better than no Mig at all right?
