Its Outstanding on the PC to Tony. One of the best stories for a game in a long time. And to bring this on topic the part when you are the C130 Spectre gunner is TOTALLY KICK A$$

Already done that session on my first go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif though the good guys strobes don't show up that well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif: beats the fighter session from the B17 in COD 3 hands down http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

its a sort of sureal video game where you click and play whilst people die...........

also the fact you can waste dogs too, i find myself strangely drawn to that, even though you are told to avoid making a noise http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My friend and I tried the PC demo on his new rig with full settings. We were both awed by the game it looks awesome.
Tomorrow Im going to blockbuster though and getting if for the 360, the guy there is holding me a copy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

As I said before I will have a copy for both PC and 360. Make sure you 360 fellas add me to your friends list. HaVoK308 is my live name. Im getting the PC version more or less for my internet buds and the story, and I will get the 360 version to play online with my local buds. My 360 version will be here today sometime.

Get some screens up (other then what we seen in demo) for PC version.

I`ll have a look at the PC version, but I don`t touch console versions, cos of cost, lack of precision and if you wish to mod it (make it more realistic-whatever), you can`t.

FPS' on consoles are so,...not as good as they are for PC's.

I'm not uppity or too good (I have a Wii and PS3 in my house), but playing first-person-shooters on a console is just too awkward for me. Too much time playing MoH and UT2004 on my pc I guess, but mouse-look is so much more intuitive.

But Guitar hero, Ratchet & Klank and Zelda look awesome on my TV.

I`m not really a big fan on modern warfare to be honest. Too close to home with too many issues. WWII always comes across as much more simpler with a pretty straight forward bad guy enemy.

Went and got it for 360. Just now on mission 2 one thing I have noticed is that you cannot turn off the crosshairs for the 360 version!!! I usually just like to use iron sights thats what I liked about COD3.

PC had better not have this. It`s one of the first things I do too. If you gonna play war like the real boys then we can do them the honour of trying to shoot things without a hovering crosshair!

well after the second mission I put it on Veteran to see if that would get rid of the crosshair... but to no avail.. anyway its not that big of a deal anymore if you dont pay attention to it u get used to it.
Im on the sniper mission and cant get on the chopper I think im about to trow my controller into the tv, it is very hard on veteran. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Perhaps in hardcore mode? I have not tried it yet so its only a suggestion. Im also a fan of no cross hair but even ArmA has it on by default. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed the Project Reality mod for BF2 so much...it took away the cross hair and also limited kits to reflect real world fire teams.

When you complete it and it does the titles with the COD rap at the end after the normal music. let it run to the very end, it will then let you do a short "rescue the VVIP game" in what looks like Airforce One, this then unlocks the cheat codes etc http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

OK just got the pc version.....It looks really great ,graphics are awesome BUT Multiplayer is very different to COD2 with players having the ability to unlock Fighter Strikes/Helicopter Gunship attacks etc as they get more kills .This seems very unfair to me .I normally do ok on COD2 servers but was spending more time respawning(you have to spend a full 10 seconds before respawn) than actually alive .I was getting a right 'pwning' in fact. One of the few positive aspects of the changes to multiplayer seems to be that the dreaded 'hopping about' that people did to avoid being hit seems to have been stopped.Snipers are deadly -I just kept being killed -may have only got 4 or 6 victims in maybe 30-40 mins play...

Taylortony

Surely it is similar to COD 2 online if you think about it......... Being able to call in air strikes is just the same as being able to call in Artillery, that comes with increased points online as do the satchel charges etc......... not tried COD 4 online yet though as not here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif till monday http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Have done COD 4 on the XBOX to death, I am now doing it on the Hardest setting, to be honest, it makes it more fun though my trigger finger hurts almost as much as my trusty troops on screen......... they have more holes in them than a pin cussion. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Imho, that`s the one good news. +1 in fact. If there`s anything that makes me champ at the bit are all those online-capable FPS` (especially ones based on reality, ie Human fighters) that seem to think that men bunny hopped their way out of being shot. As well as completely unreal it makes the whole thing look ridiculously stupid, like some kind of mad hopping merry-go-round, instead of a gritty war.

I am currently stuck on the Sniper part when your boss is injured and you are near the big ferris wheel with hundreds of bad guys attacking.

I am playing on the 2nd hardest setting. All has been OK so far, bit tough taking out those houses when you can call in a helicopter but all the rest has been good.

But this Sniper part is extremely tough. I think I have got half way through. It saved and now 3 Helicopters drop more men as I start, also loads come from behind the far buildings.

I manage to snipe all as they jump from the first 2 helicopters, then I start on the far ones, next the dog attacks, I use the Ak47 on that, and then I just get overwhelmed.

Has anyone got any tricks to get past this part? If only I could climb the Ferris wheel.

It seems almost impossible, I am just overwhelmed, evenm if I barely miss a shot. I guess at best, I have managed to take out about 30-40 enemies until I die....

Can anyone help??

Did it on the second hardest level, I am now doing bits on the Hardest...... makes yer eyes water..Told you I play this all the time online... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Still cannot complete one stage I am attempting on the top level where you jump down from the building and fight through to the chopper..... (Before the Nuke?)

U playing it on the XBOX?

On the ferris wheel I laid Claymores on the right near the dodgems, one or 2 at the helicopter drop off points (meant i could concentrate on the swarm in the middle before clearing up the survivors) a couple off to the left in front of the wounded guy who's name i forget and the remainder in the gaps in the wall they come through........then i lay where i had a clear field on the wooden boarding in the centre of the wheel near the steps....... I also had a AK 47 type weapon for when they go close as they do..... every failure I had I set my claymores accordingly, you want to plug the guy between the two car wrecks and also there is one in a gap in the walls near of the corner of the left building lying in the grass.... he can be a pain plugging away at u....

worst is when the Chopper arrives you have to pick him up which means no firing, though when u get close the troops cover you.

Wait till you see the missile launches later on in the game, I just stood there like a lemon and watched them go ...... WOW

Are you playing it on pc or xbox?

As I said I passed it on xbox. This level was hard for me because im not really used to the xbox controller. The sniper mission was especially hard because its harder to pan and snipe with thumbs on the control sticks than it is for me to just point and snipe with a mouse.

Anyway I tried and tried for 40 minutes with no success. Then after a short smoke break I thought I would try something different.

Note this is a coward way of doing it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

To the right of the ferris wheel (if you are behind it, and looking towards where the enemies come from) there is a booth. I got in that booth and went prone facing the door, hiding from them with an RPK.
They will find you there but they will not enter the small booth, Also they may get infront of the door and try and shoot you. Get ready to toss back many grenades, because they will trow a box full. Just look for the grenade indicator and look around the booth like a paranoid freak and toss them back. Eventually the chopper will come, get your auto weapon and shoot your way through and get your buddy and haul butt to the chopper.

I'm impressed you all like the Demo and the game so much.

I played the demo on hardest level through in a few minutes and was quite annoyed. I don't know if this is just coincidence or simply a marketing trick, but the setting of the demo-mission is the exact same thing that was in COD2: Run through a field of open fire to search cover, fight your way through a house, then defend friendly units and destroy the FlaK. OMG, this was really the very same thing in COD2, just that is has now UT3-Engine.

I also noticed that the missions are heavily scripted as in all parts before. For example the scene when you enter the staircase in the first building and an enemy begins wrestling with your teammate. The second time I went another way and noticed them both waiting for me to trigger their action. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well, overall it's nice and has a few really nice features over previous COD-Versions, but it's a slow evolution rather than a revoltion in gameplay.

If that`s ingame footage then it really is exactly like the real thing. even the speech is amazingly realistic.

Or is it real and COD4 copied it?

He said it was real footage......But the COD 4 on the XBOX 360 is so realistic looking, this is the footage of it.

OK, now I see. Switching off the music actually adds to the realism effect. It certainly looks real, except perhaps a little faster than the real footage.

thanks.

It does not seem fast in game, also there is no music but radio chatter as if over an intercom directing you onto possible targets and also discussing results, there is also some background radio traffic going on to, such as requesting permission to engage targets etc and locating second targets after the vehilces move off. the one on u tube was a bit jerky though, the in game version on the xbox is blindingy fast frame rate wise and ohh so smooth, such is the combat, there is literally tons of stuff going off from mega detail to realistic movement

Just bought the PC version, not plaed any single player as I went straight online. I have no idea what I am doing but enjoy myself anyway.

Mind you, I do find it rude that other players keep asking for someone to kick me off?

They will only ask for you to be kicked if you are not sure what you are doing, or are wasting time.

If you are the last one left alive and camping without trying to finish the objectives, then people will probably ask for you to be kicked for selfish play.

If you are not sure what you are supposed ot be doing then use the chat key to ask people. I am sure some friendly soul will help you. I would help if I was on.

Just be freindly and nice and someone will help you understand how to play.

Its understandable when there are 10 people on a side dead after tryihng to win for the team and using teamwork, and now waiting to play, and then there is one person left - camping in one spot.

Try and find out the objectives and work with the team, then people wont ask for you to be kicked.

I see, that sound you are hearing is the very large pennie dropping a huge distance.

I'm back off into the fray!

WOW! I just played on Xbox live last night and I am amazed how well this game plays on a console. Dont get me wrong, I was lost on the sticks for abit and it did take me a few hours before I was getting at least a 1.0 k/d ratio but the game is amazing and pure gaming goodness. Team play is a must and good tactics involved. This is one of those games were camouflage and cover really work. And the fact that you can fire through objects you could in real life is a nice bonus. I can not wait to get the PC version.

Gents,
Any thoughts as to whether a 'gaming mouse' would either improve me or in the very least increase my chances?

I only use a 2.99 special at present.

It will certainly make a difference. Im not saying you should run out and by a 70 dollar mouse but a nice 40 dollar or so laser mouse will improve your game, simply because it tracks sooo much better then what you got now. Im still using my Logitech MX510 gaming mouse I got about 3 years ago and it rocks. I know some people that have the newer laser mice from logitech like the G5 and they love it.

I have an MX518 which i bought for Red Orchestra.

It does make a difference in that it is much more precise and can be fine tuned while fighting (though I hardly use it). It`s very ergonomic and comfortable which certainly helps and is just big enough to sit under my hands. Is it me or are mice just too small?

I really liked the extra buttons which allowed me to configure controls that would normally sit on the keybord. On a rough estimate it might improve your fighting skill by 5%-10%...

BUT you`ll still need your own skill to do well. it`s like with everything. someone with a worse mouse but better skill will still kick your butt every time until you learn the game!

Huge perk and it helps out a lot in the heat of a fire fight. I usually map crouch and prone to my extra buttons.

Does the PC version allow you to lean left or right? I sure miss that in a FPS title.

Oh and by the way, my wife finished the single player in two nights. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
