Hi Guys,

Due to the increasing number of threads about the subject - Server issues affecting Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Mutliplayer on PC - I am making this pinned thread - which I hope will shoot two birds with one stone.

Ubisoft are aware of the current issues that are impacting your enjoyment of the game online - Multiplayer connection issues specify, and they are working hard to resolve them, however, it's important that you all know you are not being ignored.

The other reason for the thread is to make 100% sure that everyone subject to any problem connected to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has already contacted support.

The repeated posting from myself and other Forum Managers - to make sure to contact support - is not a way of defecting anger or to simply look like we are doing something.

Support tickets, or reports, play a large role in helping the Development Team investigate issues affecting games.

Support collate all of the different reports, and try and find a common factor - which is often the cause of the issue.

At present Support and the Development Team want to make sure that everyone has opened certain required Ports for UDP/TCP traffic on their routers - these ports are vital for online play - advice in the following link.

Please read the following links as they contain important information.

http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/1523/portss.jpg

**The UDP/TCP ports 44301 and 45301 in the above list should only be opened in firewall software, not in your router/modem”**

Allow the game trough your Network:

This is the path on Windows 7:

Windows Control Panel/
Network and Internet/
View Network Computers Devices/
Right click on your Router's Icon and choose Properties
Select Settings
add all ports mentioned above.

This is the path on Windows XP:

Control Panel>
Network Connections>
Internet Connection>
(Right click) Properties> Settings
add all ports mentioned above.

Remember that the forums, are not a place to either request Support or update your support ticket - it all needs to be done via the Support Website to insure vital information is not missed - the forums do not replace support.

You can find details on how to contact support in the game's manual or you can start a new support request via the weblink in my signature or clicking the following link.

Repeat threads about the current Multiplayer Server issues, may be locked - only due to the amount of them and the risk of drowning out other subjects.

They are not being locked not due to any coverup or hiding of the facts - Ubisoft are aware of the issues and are working hard to fix them, so please try and keep the forums as free from repeat topics as possible - this is for the benefit of you all.

If you wish to post here, to confer with others, please feel free - however it's VITAL that you also update or contact Support.

As soon as we have any new information, this thread will be updated!

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread.

[UPDATE - 05/04/11]

Details of patch 1.02 - not to be confused with the normal Ubi Launcher updates, which you may already have received:

Patch 1.02 fixes

Single + Multiplayer
- Fixes an issue that prevents player settings and game progress from being saved if the user's Windows login name contains unicode characters.
- Fixes an issue where users could not add friends whose names contain dot characters.

Multiplayer
- Changed network communication port from 1000 to 7917 in order to fix connection issues caused by some ISPs' restrictions.

The patch is now available - your Game Launcher will inform you and download and install it for you - you do not need to download it manually - please be aware that different regions may have different versions of the patch, so please let the launcher auto patch the game, rather than manually installing

<span class="ev_code_RED">Note the Change of port - 7917 also needs to be open now!</span>

[UPDATE- 5/10/11]

Patch 1.03 fix-

Updated binkw32.dll to prevent crashing while playing videos.

Maybe people with the problems could mention their own theories what the cause could be in this thread. I personally have no clue though. People in different countries are having problems. I've got Windows 7 and XP in dual boot and I get the same issue in both, so it's not related to a specific OS. It's unlikely to be related to port 1000 as many people have forwarded that but still experiencing matchmaking issues.

Sticky this!

Anyway, reported the problem again, including the fact that I forwarded port 1000 and mentioned my ISP too.. I hope this gets solved quickly

So there's 3 separate problems?

-Extremely slow matchmaking (keeps showing "attempting to join session" without actually joining any session or adding players). Up to 45 minutes or more to join a single match.

-Connection lost at multiplayer main menu due to port 1000 being blocked.

-Game invites being "unreachable". Does this work for anyone?

@MonsterJunkese: VeryFluffy was actually correct, I can't connect because my ISP blocks the port needed to connect to the server because those ports are dangerous for hackers. On my other ISP at my other home, I could connect without any problems, and I had very fast matchmaking. However, I couldn't join any friend playing the game. Inviting them worked though.

Quick update to the thread - The team are working on a solution to certain peoples issues, namely people unable to play on ISP's [Internet Service Providers] who have blocked Port 1000.

Please check with your ISP if this is your issue - if you do not check, and it is not, any patch released may not fix the game for you.

People who are using ISP's who do not block Port 1000 - please continue to report your problems to support.

That's odd...i'm on BE Broadband (owned by O2, they share the same infrastructure) and there are no restrictions on ports or their ability to forward them for me.

The general advice about always contacting support over issues in general - is for everyone, however the thread is not..

The threads location, in the PC forum, means it's intended mainly for PC users though, who are experiencing a lot of issues at present.

I will edit the title though, to make sure everyone is clear over the threads content...

Console owners who are also experiencing multiplayer issues should know that it is being looked into as well - as all issues are, but also should be reporting it directly to support - as I have posted, however that is not the subject of this thread, so console discussion should be kept in the console forum where possible.

I have had a major problem with my multiplayer and uplay acces, when i go in game and try to acces Multiplayer or Uplay i get this message: The UbiSoft server is not available at this time. Please try later! I requested personal assistance from ubi on-line support centre, they advised me to-The game uses port 1000 (TCP & UDP) You need to make sure the port is open.I opened ALL the ports of my router, restart it, and now everything works perfectly fine !!!The Multiplayer is great.

Ok, finally able, to open this port. Portchecker status says it open and working correctly...
But no diffirence for me.
To be precise: Im/ i was able to enter uplay and game, dont have any "disconnected" error messages.Just can't find any server to play, indefinetely waiting, jumping through maps, reaching max 3/6 players - so strange cuz i played one(and only) session on Friday night with this port closed back then)

I got this game to play with one of my roommates. However, neither of us can join a game while both of us are logged in (not necessarily the same match). Probably because we live in the same house and have the same IP. Is there anyway to fix this?

So is this related to the "Internet Access Problem" when trying to log in via the Ubisoft Game Launcher? Or is that a different problem altogether? I bought AC:B on Sunday and haven't been able to go online due to this issue...

Are these multiplayer issues connected to my issue of being unable to redeem the DA Vinci DLC or redeem a code I got with the game?

You're supposed to go to extras in the menu and unlockable content. It tries to connect to Ubisoft server, but I've been unable to connect to it.

I've had the PC version of the game since Friday and it's been unable to log in to the server since that time.

With PC's and connections it's hard to troubleshoot if the person is not there or has infomation to hand.

You could call your ISP and ask if they block port 1000 - if they do - it's likely that the problem is due to that.

However, a problem with the host file, so editing it or one of the other solutions could solve the issue.

At the end of the day, you should try all of the suggestions, just in case http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A good first step would be to contact your ISP and ask about port 1000 - if you don't want to wait and see if the fix being developed at the moment will fix it.

The thread is mainly about multiplayer connection issues..

The Da Vinci DLC, is available via the Uplay service - it's free to download.

At launch there were a few hours when codes did not work, however that should be fixed now, so if you have not already, please try the code again.

If you have problems redeeming codes of any kind still, it's best to raise the issue with support.

Since you said your unable to log in - it may be related to that though, depending on your ISP - you would need to contact them to see if they block port 1000.

There is some troubleshooting on the first post you should try, but also this: if your getting an 'Internet connection is required' error - which is a different issue to the main reason for the thread:

the Host file fix - is for people who are getting the 'Error: An internet connection is required' error when first starting the game.

If you don't get that error - then please ignore the following.

The host file is a small file on your PC - it can tell the PC where a internet server is - it normally is empty since your internet should just find it on the web via DNS [Domain Name Service].

Some people - and I am NOT pointing any fingers -have altered that file, or installed cracked versions of other Ubisoft games in the past, and it basically stops the PC looking for the server, so they can play the games with DRM.

If you have ever installed any of them, please edit the Host file, as per the instructions posted in the first post - 'error and internet connection is needed' - it will look for the server and it should then work fine.

Like I said - I'm not judging or pointing fingers - but many others have had success after the Host file fix - no need to post if that does solve the issue - just let me know in private. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Multiplayer - is locked to CD Key and not playable without connecting to Ubisoft's servers, so getting people playing is important.

There are many reason's why the Host file could be wrong, however most people would never need to touch it, and most software would not alter the Ubisoft server IP - so I need to explain why it may need to be altered.

And like I said, we should not point fingers - since it may not even fix the issue for them.

This problem is very difficult to solve by people who do not know a lot about computers. When I buy a game, I expect everything to work, including multiplayer. At this stage, I think that Ubisoft has failed.. I have never experienced such a hard problem like this and I have done everything possible to make an effort to resolve this problem, but it doesnt works... What should I do? PC set ups - how you installed the game and different home network hardware can all have an affect..

PC gamers should be aware of basic trouble shooting, since sometimes ports and other things need altering.

Console games - normally are a lot simpler to troubleshoot - due to the hardware being standard, and not having software firewalls or AV software blocking things.

Many people have no issues with the game, apart from long waits on match making [which is also being looked at] however those that do, it's a long process to solve - since there are so many different configurations.

It's important people do not simply 'wait and see' - since there are things that Ubisoft can maybe not solve, such as your host file.

This is why Support offer advice on what to try - since it could be a local problem, and you could be playing now, rather than waiting...

That's not to shift any blame to any of you guys, I simply do not want people to wait - Ubisost issues the fixes - and the game still does not work, due to a simple 2 minute local fix - such as opening ports or the host file.

well i joined one game for five minutes after searching for hours... that was on friday after this i only had 2 or 3 times 5/6 agents before it resetted and then again 1/6 ...
but i updated my ticket with everything so all we can do is wait.

PS: I saw that some other people who got this problem, too bought the codex edition, like me, maybe theres a bug in it?

Dumb down version of pc.

All joking aside I agree you would expect it to work at the very least.
I mean every games has bugs but a entire component of a game that doesn't work is just crazy.
I am gonna play Crysis 2 multiplayer until this is resolved.

And I think its bs that I gotta go get a playstation or xbox360 while I have pc of 1500€ in my room.

If this doesn't get resolved then I am not buying the next AC.

Bit of an update from my camp... After not being able to play at all over the weekend i managed 2 sessions last night... 1st was Manhunt which lasted 1min 40 seconds before disconnecting me, the second session i had was on "Assissinate" which lasted for the duration of the game (10mins). I wanted to re-match after this as i thought "once your in, your in" but no... i didn't connect to anything again all night and i was trying for well over an hour.

It reminds me of buy Glastonbury tickets, i.e a lottery if you hit their servers at the right time your in lol.

Just to note, i have Ports 1000, 9100-9103 and all knows PS3 ports open on my router. I have also disabled all firewalls and AV to get this far... look forward to a fix (hopefully soon).

BTW, Assassinate was bloody good fun for the brief time i played it!

Port 1000 is being looked at - the Dev team are working on it at present.

I did say in the first post.. If they release a fix for that, it won't use port 1000 so you don't need to worry about port 1000...

Have you asked your Internet Provider if it is blocked? - it may not be and you have other issues.

The host file - there are directions in the first post on how to check and edit it.

If you never used any other games from ubisoft and bypassed the DRM on them - you might not need to check it.

But directions are there, just in case 'something' else has altered it - worth looking, as it takes seconds...

Or contact support and they will talk you through it.

Not all set up issues can be fixed remotely - so if you need to be talked through things, that is what support are for http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For all the people from Belgium who have Telenet as ISP: They, unfortunatly, block all port below 1023 for known virus attacks. You need to create a static IP adress to access port 1000.

Bluergh I wish this worked.

I'm not big on port stuff but would it be hard to just change the port needed to something like what WoW uses? Since I doubt any ISP would block that.

Port 1000 is hell and a bad choice. Clearly just chosen because its a nice even number.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">
Hello

I have a bit more detailed information about matchmaking problem from my personal expierence. First, i could say that there are two different kind of players. Those who have no problem finding players and those who have difficulty finding players.

The following theory was tested with my friend. Together we wait for other abstergo agents. A player joins, total of 3 players out of 6. Still waiting for players to join. Then suddenly i see players leaving untill 1 out of 6 abstergo agents. I ask my friend how many does he see and he said 5 out of 6 and very soon he says that he started to play the game. But i still see 1 out of 6 abstergo agents. There have been cases when i see 0 out of 6 abstergo agents which means im not even there.

Specificaly about those two kind of players:
My friend is one of those who have no problem finding players and im the troubled one. So my theory is that some players get 'thrown' by the matchmaker into a completely different game session. Also there is a better proof about this problem: my own match(ranked/player/private) gamemode setting was assassinate. Friend invited me to a manhunt gamemode. We wait for other players just as mentioned above when suddenly there are 1 out of 6 players and then gamemode changes into assassinate. It's like im waiting for other players with my friend and suddenly game decides to create a new match automatically, taking information to create a game from my settings.

I have also discovered a bit about "This game session is unreachable" problem. First, to make this text easier to read lets assume there is player A and B.A creates a private match. A invites B to the lobby then me, i get "unreachable". Then i noticed that problem could be about B because i was able accept A's invitation successfully when A had not invited B. The see if it is true, i created private match, invited A who successfully joined, then i invited B. A told me that B got "this game session is unreachable" message. So if there is even one player that gives you "unreachable", you can't join to the lobby at all.
Mathematically it would look like this:
A+B=GAME;
A+B+me=NO GAME;
A+me=GAME;
B+me=NO GAME;

If you do not understand some parts, please ask as im not sure if the meaning that i want to tell will be understood. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The private match problem sounds like the game is using P2P network model, and you and B just can't ever connect to eachother because of strict NAT.

The matchmaking problems sounds like typical symptoms for strict NAT as well.

I'm personally thinking there's some kind of bug in the game which makes certain players be treated as having strict NAT, even though port 1000 is forwarded and working (I've made darn sure port 1000 is working for me. but I still can't properly use invites and matchmaking takes ages for me). The big question is why those specific players get that problem.

Hopefully Ubi Soft are working on it. It's good they're trying to fix the problem of using port 1000, but they really need to fix this other problem too.

You should only select a static ip - if your ISP allows it, since some charge extra or simply do not allow you to use one without permission.

If you have messed up the routers configuration you may need to talk to your ISP about how you reset it back.

Do not just do the standard reset found on google, incase the router has preset info that could be lost - you could end up unable to connect to the Internet at all.

Best to speak to your ISP's support.

Hello,
I have had no problems with AC:Brotherhood on the PC until today, it gave me this "Internet Access Problem" after I tried to login to the Ubisoft Game Launcher. I followed this link from the FAQ:
http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com...9zaWQvbllsOGdCcGs%3D (http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14717/p/88%2C2207/c/0/session/L3RpbWUvMTMwMDgyNzkzMy9zaWQvbllsOGdCcGs%3D)
With this information, I deleted my hosts file and restarted. (The hosts file contains text to re-direct internet traffic if it is set by host name and IP). What caused this is that my internet disconnected while I was playing the game I think (?). If you continue have this error, you could also try switching your router off, waiting a minute, then turning it back on, this I believe flushes the system and gives you a new internet IP (unless of course you are using static IP). After this now, I can connect fine. (Again, I had no issues on the previous days). If you have any other problems try looking at
http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/list
I hope this can solve any problems for whoever reads this, I posted this here as I had trouble finding this information, the forum and stickys appear a bit messy unless you look hard

What you're describing sounds like it's probably a NAT or port forwarding issue. And it sounds like there's probably moderate NAT on your connection, and also on the connection of the person you labeled "B" in your example. Either of you (but preferably both) should be able to resolve the issue by changing the appropriate settings for your connection(s).

So, Mr_Shade, what do you suggest for those who had already opened all ports and did other requested tweaks. and still have that damn woman searching those abstergo agents for hours before she finds them... ?

I; opened ports: 1000, 9001, 12000, 27015, 44301,45301, 49928.
Uninstaled AV, disabled FW (Win and router one(added exceptions just in case))
Router has latest FW.
No unnecessary processes working in background.

Today I managed to enter 6 sesions (including rematch).
Game was running nonstop since i had breakfast up till now,
I had to do some work in Photoshop on laptop so i was able to monitor search for "Abstergo agents" almost whole time.

It was 4 sesions and 2 rematches, usually sits on 1/6 all the time,
jumps to 2 or 3/6. I did randomise searches, tried every mod and opetion. In rare times that it goes to 6/6 if im lucky it will start season but usually im not so it kicks me into some random empty map, gg ... this happens whit rematch too. I press rematch and just before sixth one comes in it kicks me to empty map or it kicks other ones and im left alone.

And that excuse that there aren't many people playing MP is bs.
I really doubt that me and my 10 online friends from Croatia are only ones playing :X.

By connection open you mean open ports right? No, i don't forward ports. I use UPnP which does port frowarding automatically for me. Also i have tried open ports manually but no difference. I seem to have this exact same problem, although I'm not as patient, so after being lucky this past weekend and having played 4 matches, including re-matches, I can't seem to get into a game anymore, or atleast, not within the 15/20 minutes that I can be patient...

And since I've already been able to play, I'm sure it's not a problem on my ISP's side either...

EDIT: Pfft, after waiting for 10 minutes, and almost losing hope, I see: "2/6", "3/6", "1/6" ah, damn... "7/7" huh? "8/8" cool! "6/6", and indeed, 6 people in the lobby. Where did the others go? Ah, who cares! I CAN PLAY! "You have been disconnected from the host" WHAT?!?! %&#$%%!

Ubisoft messed up in the past with Port stuff I remember like Vegas 2 - loads of people with NAT problems etc.

I think it better Ubisoft themselves change how they create these games - make them more user friendly.

Okay, not sure if it's a fix/workaround, but after I followed the instructions of this forum/guy:
http://forums.steampowered.com...thread.php?t=1804179 (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1804179)

After having set up my router to forward ALL ports, and my firewall to allow ALL ports, and the waittimes didn't improve. I found someone mentioning that forum I just linked, I tried what the guy said, and indeed!
I got insta-games http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif No more rediculous waittimes, actually press play now and don't hear a voice telling you she's looking for other agents, just get to character selection right away http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Not sure if it was temporary or not, but I played several matches after using that workaround.

However, since I started forwarding all these ports, my ACBMP started crashing - didn't do that before. It actually froze my entire computer in the middle of a match/session(had to use the frigging reset button to be able to do something again). It did so twice so far.

the folder is: WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc
And having no hosts file, is kinda impossible, unless you JUST deleted it. Windows automatically recreates that file during boot-process, everytime it gets deleted.

But depending on your problem, the hosts-file should probably not be the first place to look really.

Well, my connection issues are all gone, but since they're gone, my multiplayer game has started to freeze every 10 minutes or so. Didn't have this problem anytime during the single player mode, or last weekend when i played 4 matches without the fix I tried.
How come opening certain ports makes my windows 7 freeze all of a sudden mid-game? It's also never in the menu, always in-game...

Now, I read somewhere it might be graphics related, but I've played the entire single player without a hicup on highest settings... So, I don't believe it is graphics related...

Mr. Shade somewhere suggested that other software might cause this kind of failure. Which software are we thinking of here? Because I make sure, every time, that all my internet applications are turned off (running no messengers, no browsers, no other software that connects to the internet, except gmail notifier)

So, anyone got any idea what else could cause this problem?

EDIT: Oh, just found this:

Solve Assassins Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer Freezes / Crashes

Many of the PC users have been experiencing crashes or game freezes after trying to enter multiplayer mode. This usually results with the game being locked up in full screen mode and it forces you to restart your computer. The problem may be related to Realtek sound cards. Of course, other game problems may cause it too, but there is definitely a trend. Try these fixes.

-- Windows 7 and Windows Vista users should set their exe's to Windows XP Compatibility mode
-- Unhook any microphones connected or headsets (doesn't help if you want to use voice chat though)

As mentioned by others, forwarding the port has to be done in several places - or atleast, so it seems.
Also, make sure your firewall is enabled, but has exception rules for the ports used by the game.
Third, if you've set your router to forward the ports, and set your firewall to let the ports open, then go to your explorer &gt; network &gt; right-click your router &gt; click properties &gt; set up the additional ports for 1000 and 27015 (both TCP and UDP for both)

In the German forums we have the impression, that the problem is most prominent in certain router types (such as easybox or Thomson Speedtouch).

The problem seems to be, that although the ports are open the router and ISP are still blockinig any data transfer. Therefore, no connection is possible.

Some poeple opened the ports and although they are stated to be open by their systems test with data transfer tool showed, that no traffic was possible.

Any info here in the UK forums, if certain router types are more subject to the problem than others?

I've tried everything from both these forums and the steam ones + random stuff on google.

I'm from the UK and I am using the BThomehub. All ports have been forwarded on everything.

The only problem I have is my internet gateway. As shown on the video related to COD and opening the NAT. I cannot open the ports that way as I receive an error stating that I can't and need to open them directly which has no meaning to me.

I've played a few games but the problem still persists.

Seems to me the problem is on Ubi's end.

Nope, no firewalls. I've made darn sure port 1000 is open for me. I've got Windows 7 and XP in dualboot and I get same problems in both. 360 version is able to do matchmaking just fine. Hosts file has been deleted (although it wasn't modified to begin with).

So I'm definitely out of ideas. Ubisoft support is just going around in circles and keep asking me to try stuff I've already tried. Now they seem confused and they sent me an update on a closed ticket (about gamepad controllers).

From what I gather, only port 1000 is used for player-to-player communications, and that needs to be allowed for incoming traffic. The others are used for general traffic to Ubi Soft which will work as long as they're not blocked.

That's how I think it works anyway.

Quick update... we've isolated the issue with port 1000 and have a solution that seems to work, however, testing is going to take awhile.

In addition, we have some other issues that we want to address in the same patch (like save games having trouble with non-English characters), so we hope to have a patch prepared by late next week (give or take a few days to account for unexpected delays and distribution).

Hopefully, we'll have you all happily engaging in the stabby-stabby soon!

Those who still complain about matchmaking is bugged: it's because you haven't opened your ports 'completely'. The following link shows you how to open ports 'completely': http://img841.imageshack.us/f/65326427.png/
Start&gt;Search programs and files&gt;Network&gt;Router&gt;Right Click&gt;Properties&gt;General&gt;Settings&gt;Add

This is not meant for those who has their ports blocked by ISP.

The game uses P2P which means every player in a match has to be directly connected with every other player. Most other games uses a host/client system where only the host has to keep a port open, but in this case you'll not be able to connect to many other players unless that port is open.

@kekku500: I'm having matchmaking problems, and this should be good enough proof that port 1000 is open for me: http://i221.photobucket.com/al...ectus/port1000-1.jpg (http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd60/TzarSectus/port1000-1.jpg)

@Tea2thebag: There is definitely a problem (which I'm guessing is a bug with the netcode) which causes connection issues when trying to connect with other players. But even with that fixed, you'd need port 1000 open in order to connect to many players. It should still work, but it'd just work better with the port open.

Ok i've manage to open it your way, I think I entered the wrong ip.

Added both tcp and udp - port 1000

I may, MAY, could just be a coincidence, have fixed it. If so i'll share exactly what I did.

Theres no difference between forwarding ports in the router or with Start&gt;Search programs and files&gt;Network&gt;Router&gt;Right Click&gt;Properties&gt;General&gt;Settings&gt;Add
because when i forward a port in the router menu it appears after it there.
And i opened 20 Ports now that are all i know from Ubisoft and AC Brotherhood.
Checked them with Portchecker UDP and TCP all open and working.
BUT I STILL CANT FIND MORE THAN 2/6 PLAYERS

lol i fixed it, kekku. Just had to turn on upnp in my router (in the browser), then the same icon popped up as you have in 'network'. I was able to add the port to it.

Actually there seems to be a difference. Just have to upnp the router, then add the port the way kekku said, then it's actually open. I no longer sit in queue :/

Same thing!
I don't have any problems with finding a map or players. But there is one issue - latency, it seems that latency is about (at least) 2000 ms, because I get message about connection problems each time when I'm trying to kill someone or I'm just being disconnected from the host. You have to access the router and set it to uPnP. Only then will you get the port-options in windows.
I was convinced my 1000 port was open since PFPortChecker said it was, and i got the occasional game, but I tried kekku's trick; and at first i didn't have the option to do what he described -- but as I said I found out you have to enable upnp in the router (going the http route, that is) before it shows up.

Now I get games in seconds even when starting at 1/6.

I'm desperate.
I've been trying to forward the necessary ports for hours now and it seems I just can't get them open (according to Portchecker).

I'm using a Zyxel P-660HW-T7C Router and Windows 7. Kekku's idea doesn't work because I get the error message "The internet gateway did not adopt the changes." It tells me to do this directly via the web interface. However, as I said, I have forwarded all these ports on my router.

03-23-2011, 02:50 PM
Okay so I opened all the ports and forwarded them, checked the portforward program to make sure they were all open and I still can only connect when my wireless router's firewall is off. its a motorola SBG900 and I don't think it supports uPnP but when the firewalls off I don't get any lag online. Am I missing something?

Okay, I finally got to the point were my ports are 100% open. Even Portchecker now greenlights everything. But when I try to join a match by hittin "Play now" I get the error "An internal error occured during the creation of the session."

VeryFluffy
03-23-2011, 03:06 PM
Okay, kekku's instructions did work for me.

I'm using Windows XP and I didn't see the modem listed in network connections. But after following this guide it shows up: http://www.bitwiseim.com/wiki/...g_UPnP_in_Windows_XP (http://www.bitwiseim.com/wiki/index.php?title=Using_UPnP_on_Windows_XP#Enabling_ UPnP_in_Windows_XP)

I added the port for Brotherhood, and now matchmaking takes around 5 seconds instead of 30 minutes. For the heck of it, I removed all port forwarding for Broterhood from the modem, and it still works fine.

This makes very little sense. I guess that Broterhood is programmed to use port via UPNP, and if it isn't accessible via that it'll treat you as strict NAT? I don't see much logic in that, but I guess that's what happens. Since I tested port 1000 a few days ago with another game I'm 100% sure it was open by forwarding it on the modem software. And I have absolutely no idea why Brotherhood wasn't able to forward the port by itself using UPNP (which has been on since I've owned this modem).

Anyway, at least we know a proper solution. Anyone with matchmaking problems (it keeps showing 1/6 for several minutes or longer) needs to forward the port via UPNP.

And Ubi Soft better improve their network implementation as there's obviously some major flaws with it.

Follow Kekku's guide on page 9!
It fixed the 4/6 maximum + unreachable issue for me. Give it a try even though it seems like a redundant fix.
Make sure uPnP is enabled on your router (this is very important or else you won't see the options he's talking about).

Check kekku's guide on page 9. It fixed that problem for me (opening/closing ports in Router does very little. Kekku's method seems redundant at first, but it's the only thing that worked for me). Ditto here, I'm on a university network and matchmaking is painfully slow. The only thing I see under 'Network Infrastructure' is "Internet gateway device" which has no settings tab, only an information tab.

Really hope this patch can fix things for us, otherwise we're scuppered.

I tried the very simple, Router properties in Windows fix, and now can play the game online.

I would though like to say that I am not impressed with Ubisoft at all with this situation. A member of the public discovered a simple fix which obviously works for many people, yet Ubisoft did not.

This is definitely not the first time Ubisoft made a big error with Network coding/ the NAT etc. Port design.

Anyone who can see the router but not the settings tab. Are you on Windows XP? If so, you need to right click it via Network Connections, not Windows Explorer. (and of course, UPNP has to be enabled on the modem/router)

Another thing to note about UPNP is that those port forwardings disappear after a while, so if you get matchmaking problems again, you'll have to forward port 1000 via UPNP again.

Perhaps this is worthy of note:

I'm also having the MP connecting problems and I've waited a couple of hours before joining 1 game and be disconnected afterwards.

Now I've been stunting with the ports and I discovered that there must be a conflict with the ports and the ACBMP file. When I open the ports in my router, it works fine. If I use emule using these ports, the ports actually works great (Emule has the ability to choose the ports you want to use). The problem arises when I start ACB. When I hit multiplayer in the singleplayer menu, it starts multiplayer (ofcourse!) but after a few seconds it kicks out my entire internet. My router seems to have an error and it resets completely and after after two times I'm a bit tired of forwarding the other ports I needed.

I hope this info might help in solving the problem. It is rather a bit strange.

Note 1: The whole portforwarding worked fine for me before I began with ACB.

Note 2: If I don't open port 1000 and I do open the other 4 ports for the ACBMP, it still crashes and resets so it isn't specifically port 1000!

I think, that it is ne?essary to have External IP to connect to ubisoft server in game
Is it true? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Not sure about "External IP" (DMZ?)

But you do need to set a static IP for your network (if it's dynamic).

And then open the required ports from router/firewall.

Not being satisfied with my current matchmaking speed (3-4min), i tried opening some ports.

Using the kekku "trick" i managed to break the game, now being stuck with 1/6 agents.

So for everybody with problems, DO NOT try anything out unless posted in the first post.
(or having experience with said settings, therefore being able to fix things up if you manage to break em)
While i believe kekku has no evil intentions, it is possible it will kill whatever is left of your matchmaking.

It should be safe to revert any changes. The UPNP changes you did with kekku's trick is all temporary. You can revert it by restarting your modem, or you could manually remove the forwarded ports on the same settings window where you added them.

I don't see how it would become worse though. Unless you accidentally wrote the wrong ip, and now it's forwarding traffic to a ip which isn't on the network.

I know fluffy.

But we are not all experts.

In fact, after i dissabled Upnp, restarted, and activated upnp again.(with kekku's setup still in tact).
I managed to improve the MM speed.
It now takes around 20sec depending on the mode.(Wanted and Assassinate)

Why my router screwed up in the first place, i still dont know.

So as far as i know, the solution works!
(this does not remove the warning, if you dont know what you're doing, pls be carefull)

Ok so this is my problem, even with Upnp enabled I don't get that other tab in router properties.

http://www.lyngton.com/not.jpg

I assume I need to disable Upnp, restart (both my comupter and router), then re-enable Upnp on my router, restart (both my computer and router), and the other tab in the router properties should exist right?

I tried this last nite to no effect any other advice?

I'm using a netgear WPN824v2.

Now my router has a static ip address, but since I'm connected to my router through a wireless network adapter do I need to give my computer a static ip address?

any suggestions? Thanks

This problem is only caused by having one or more of the required ports blocked to your system. If you are using McAfee Internet Security, please note that you will have to uninstall that program before the game will allow you to connect. If you have a router or DSL modem, please contact the manufacturer of that device to make sure that you have updated the firmware for it correctly as well as to check to make sure that the required ports are open. Unfortunately, the only other recommendation that we could make for you would be to contact your ISP for additional troubleshooting.

This is just a reminder that a fix for the 1/6-queue and 'unreachable' is on page 9 in a post by kekku! I'll just quote it here:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Those who still complain about matchmaking is bugged: it's because you haven't opened your ports 'completely'. This is not meant for those who has their ports blocked by ISP.
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Make sure you open UPnP in your router before you follow his guide.

Here is a more detailed explanation of the fix:
http://forums.steampowered.com...thread.php?t=1804179 (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1804179)

Some people are reporting that they can't see the settings in kekku's guide. Some of them are on campuses that have routers they can't access, so those of you who are in that situation; either yell at the campus network administrator, or wait it out to see what Ubi has cooked up in the next patch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here is also a WinXP method to enable UPnP:
http://www.bitwiseim.com/wiki/...g_UPnP_in_Windows_XP (http://www.bitwiseim.com/wiki/index.php?title=Using_UPnP_on_Windows_XP#Enabling_ UPnP_in_Windows_XP)

However if you are able to access your router and set it to UPnP, and if you still can't see the settings kekku shows in his pic, then enable 'Network Discovery' in the advanced settings in the local network menu. This will put your Vista/Windows 7 PC into UPnP too.

I hope these words from Ubisoft are meaningful. I played Raven Shield and Ubisoft said the same thing and they did absolutely zero to fix any problems whatsoever. For years they said they were working hard on it.
That being said, there are a couple of thing that I noticed when connecting to a game on the PC:
1. It usually gets stuck on 5/6. From that moment, you have to wait minutes for the next player to join. I'm level 40 now and I don't believe this is just a coincidence. I have no idea why this is happening, but it is.
2. When I start a ranked game and invite a friend (he doesn't need to have joined yet), filling the game with more players, is much slower.
Regardless of what I just said, I wish Ubisoft all the best in solving the issues. If there is anything else we can do, but reporting problems, please let us know.

p.s: Since I opened the ports, I don't see any improvement with connecting faster to a game.

Hey there. I appreciate that you guys at Ubi are no doubt working your rexpective arses off to fix these issues. I mean, you're the same company that gave me a free copy of HAWX to say sorry for AC2 connectivity issues, brief though they were (that was very kind of you by the way).

But the matchmaking system in place for Brotherhood just isn't feasible to play on. I've physically played the game for a single match (totally slammed everyone btw someone on level 1 O_o) out of hundreds attempts to play. I've tried everything, I've added friends, I've tried the "play now" button, I've tried all the other matchmaking button, I've tried playing at multiple times of the day and week.

There's something wrong with the system you've sold me. I know it works for me because I've played a match, but the efficiency is nothing short of sad. Seriously? This series sells in the multi-million region, and there isn't 5 other people on the planet who want to play?

PS- I'm on PC, and I think the first thing you should be doing is getting rid of the "Expanding search criteria" method you've got going on if the game is indeed expanding it's criteria. Can't we just search for everyone and cut to the chase?

If you mean Allocated external IP as in static Ip address in the router, then no. It's on lease until I turn off my router and let it sit for a few minutes before i turn it back on.
Whether you have Static or dynamic IP shouldn't really matter, I think.

I just purchased ACB Deluxe Edition, I tried to activate it with activation manager but it didn't work. The error message reads "the serial number you entered is invalid. Contact customer support for more information". How do i solve this problem?

I have opened all ports needed from the explorer, disabled firewall(on pc and router) UPnP is on and all possible things which can fix the matchmaking problem also done and still no success(i can play but it takes a long time and i play very rare)

Oh and i also phoned my isp and they do not block port 1000 but that still didnt fixed the matchmaking problem so well i think i will wait for the patch if it can fix this.

Didn't Ubi say you should have your firewall enabled, but ports added as exceptions?
Maybe not having your firewall enabled does actually have a negative effect on your waittimes?

Anyway, I just came back to complain about the freezing. As others are enjoying disconnects to reset their XP, I've got these awesome freezes that lock up my entire computer. I've read about it, it's supposedly a problem between my realtek card, voice chat and punkbuster... But wtf am I supposed to do with that info? Buy a new sound card they say!? WTF?! Really Ubisoft, next PC port: take a little longer, pollish things nicely, I've been waiting a full year for this game, and really, a couple more months wouldn't have mattered at all, if at least that meant I could play it fine...

So this means that those of us living on college campuses have no hope of playing until the patch comes out. If the patch fixes it, then beautiful! I'll be upset if those of us in this kind of living situation are still locked out of the game.

Any news on a possible date for this patch release?

ALSO: I've been told that I need to completely UNINSTALL Norton?? Seriously? I'm not allowed to have virus protection INSTALLED on my computer to play the game?!

The following link shows you how to open ports 'completely': http://img841.imageshack.us/f/65326427.png/
Start&gt;Search programs and files&gt;Network&gt;Router&gt;Right Click&gt;Properties&gt;General&gt;Settings&gt;Add

This is not meant for those who has their ports blocked by ISP.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I was able to play a few sessions last night, however I was waiting for about 30 minutes to an hour. Now I'm unable to, should I do what others are instructing in the previous posts?

I was able to play a few game before I did the fix. Now that i fixed the port properly (as instructed earlier) I get either instant games, or fill up a 1/6 in under 30 seconds. Every time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (bit slower on trying to get Escort or chest capture going. Not too many people trying those out).

Well, I've spent the last week trying every work around possible, and managed to get to 5/6 once. Which was tantalizingly close. lol

Seeing as I don't want to un-install my Virus and Security software, just to play the MP, I think I'll wait until the patch is released. I'm pretty disappointed in Ubisofts oversight, and their complete lack on communication with the community. But, what can I do but wait and hope the patch fixes things.

I'd say in comparison to the server outages of ACII, this is ten times worse.

I kinda was expecting to have the patch ready to download today. when released on the PS3 on November 19 it lasted one week until November 26 when people couldn't play because Ubisoft was working on the problem at that Friday. I don't know what's keeping them off because they had like thousands of complaints so they should know what the problems are.

I even sent them a message and asked when they will have the problems fixed and the reply was a link to some automatically generated answer about ports. This isn't my problem I just want to play a game and NOT HAVE TO WAIT HALF AN HOUR TO WAIT!! UBISOFT I KNOW MILLIONS OF PEOPLE BOUGHT YOUR GAME SO IT SHOULDN'T TAKE SO LONG TO FIND OTHER ABSTERGO AGENTS!

Ubisoft you annoy me. I'm lucky I'm still young otherwise I would have hart failure because of my high blood pressure http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

opening the port 1000 with port checker, via the router page and via windows - network infrastructure see page 9, I got Uplay to work and could activate the Leonardo DLC, however no change on the mulitplayer issue.

Same here.. I've researched on how to forward ports with the router (http://www.pcwintech.com/screenshots-huawei-b933-smart-bro-firmware) I'm using and results are that, SmartBro(my ISP) users are unable to forward ports. Somebody correct me if I'm getting this wrong.

i tried it, but its not asking me anything like that...

i manage to login, then i click on play, it starts the game, then i go to multiplayer, and it says "unable to connect, please try again later", but when i try again, it says to me the same thing...
