Hi,
I just bought IL2-46 v 4.07.
Is that the latest version or is there a newer patch available somewhere?

We're up to Patch 4.10 now. Check the threads stickied on top of the page; one of them, probably the Nuggets' Guide, will direct you to all the good things in this sim.

Welcome!

cheers

Okay thanks, I just tracked down a site offering the 4.10 patch but it says "only installs over 4.09".
So presumably I have to patch to 4.08, then 4.09 then 4.10 in sequence?

Exactly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif read this useful stuff (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/3181081438) I am sure that there is a walk through for updating the DVD somewhere in there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Okay thanks I'll have a rummage round.
Another thing- IL-1946 is stretched out horizontally on my 28" widescreen (ie wheels and circles are oval instead of round) and it stays the same no matter what resolution I use, any advice?

Yep...You'll need to patch from 4.07 to 4.08 then to 4.09 then to 4.10.

For the widescreen thing, check this out:

Wow I'm on a roll here thanks to you guys, I've successfully patched up through 4.08/4.09 and 4.10, plus I got the resolution thing sorted..http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll push my luck and ask something else- why won't my joystick throttle lever work in IL-2?
Is it just me, or do we all have to use keys 1 to 10 for throttle?

Did you assign it to Power under HOTAS CONTROL?

Hello, in your game go to "options" and find the place where you can assign keys to certain operations, and go all the way to the bottom under HOTAS and click "throttle" and move your throttle forward and it should say something like "Z axis forward". and click "apply".

Welcome TungstenKid,

You might want to check out my training campaign to learn how to take off and land on both grass strips and carriers (see link below). The missions are short and step you through takeoffs and landings using the friendly SBD-3. It has literally helped thousands.

And now apparently 4.10.1 is out which fixes some bugs and assorted issues in 4.10.
