I'm hoping the mission builder will have the same set-up the FB does as far as being able to set camera positions in a mission. Hopefully we can put camera viewing possitions on the carriers Bridge, Vultures Row, and even the LSO platform so those in-game that may want to just sit back and watch flight ops, or act as LSO while on Teamspeak during recovery. What a great training tool that would be.

I couldn't agree with you more more Vidar. That would be most excellent. Unfortunately, the static camera is normally fixed to a geographic location, and if the carriers are going to be moving in the coops, as we hope they will, the static camera will be left behind! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Hopefully, Luthier or Oleg will see the value of having a camera or two located ON the carrier so that we can do as you said, sit back and watch....or kibitz http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif One possible suggestion would be to make the carriers all the same as the aircraft in the game. That way, you could Shift F2 to the CV and pan around to get at least some semblence of a good shot looking down the deck.

It would work very well though, in the DF missions where the CV will be static.

My guess is that a "carrier" will be an object (computerwise) not so different from an airplane. A flight deck or (anywhere) view can be set up as sort of a designated "chase view" or "tower view" from a local reference point on the ship. Planes on the ship are "captured" by it's reference coordinates once stopped on deck even though it continues to "move". A viewpoint is similarly cpatured in that reference frame, just like a chase view follows an aircraft.

A most usefull feature would be a limited ability to have such a view with a playback function. Being able to watch your own traps and anaylize them is a teriffic learnng tool.

Exactly Fliger, as Vidar said, maybe a "vulture's row" camera, and an LSO's camera, both completely pannable. This would really help out in training, not to mention the entertainment value they would provide. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

We could come up with a PF version of "No Easy Days" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I just picked up that book, "No Easy Days" at a used book store! It is amazing that some of those crashes were survivable!

There's a video made to go along with it. I highly recommend it!

Great idea!!

Always wanted a ship mounted camera for FB.

Another way would be to External View another parked airplane and mouse around for best view from anywhere on the ship you wish--even inside the hull

if the parked planes don't vanish http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif or maybe if they do then another plane for takeoff but waiting.

That new Carrier Ops video has answered alot of questions on this thread. There is a Vultures Row/Bridge view, a Deckspot view http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif, But... the ship is stationary.
Hopefully that was a DF server, not a Coop. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

The maker of that video simply placed static cameras at the appropriate points around the stationary ship. There seems to be no camera position on the ship itself.

whit ye looking at, ya big jessie?!?!
