the corsair and and i beleive the F6F?

going thru the sim on the (F6F?), and looking at my 1:18 scale corsair, i see windows on the underside of the aircraft. what where they specifically for?

Probably so you could see your target... like on the Stuka or mayube it had something to do with carrier ops.

I believe it was so you could see the deck of the carrier during landing proceedures.

The Corsair belly windows were deleted very early in production. The Corsair in Quantico, Virginia has an early fuselage with windows. It was for watching your crash landing, I guess, not useful.

Possibly for bombing? The Corsair was capable of dive bombing. Not quite like a Stuka but it did allow the gear to be dropped as an air brake...

The prototype apparently had small bomb bays in the outer wings for bombs that would be dropped on enemy bomber formation and a window in the cockpit floor for sighting. The bombbay idea was abandoned very quickly:
