Look at the uniforms all LW Eagles on the inner jacket so definitly a LW Unit. But not enough Officers for a Bomber Squad. I see only 2 Officers(1 Hauptmann , 1 Leutnant ) 2 NCO 1(Oberfeldwebel) 1 Unterofficier or Unterfeldwebel and 1 private 1st class and 1 nco candidate . Looks more like a ground unit for aaa or support role if in active service or recruits for training company.

They are not AAA for sure, the WaffenFarbe being rahter light colored.

I was assured the picture is a Luftwaffe unit.

But as time goes by so does ones memory perhaps they got it wrong.

The Waffenfarbe might be a bit too dark for Fliegers but should be alright for signal corps and the like. Moreover there are no flying badge visible on the non officers jacket, nor are specialist badges.

They are old as well, and lots of guys with glasses.

Just a guess, but maybe radio or navigator training class picture.

Hm... Check out http://www.angelfire.com/sk2/germanuniforms/

I went through the section on Air Force. The symbol on their breast and on their caps seems to show that they are a Luftwaffe unit. The fact that none of them have Qualification Badges leads me to believe that they are either:
1. Ground Crew
2. Anti-Aircraft crew
3. Any one of the others, just haven't earned their Qual badge yet.

And I only see 3 guys with glasses. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Now I know more about German uniforms than I ever knew before http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Either the guy on the far left was ****ING HUGE or the camera lens was pretty warped.

Just something I noticed.

Well, all I can contribute to assist in this puzzle is that most of the men are wearing type M35 (or M40) "Fliegerbluse" (flyer's blouse) and about a dozen of them are wearing the "tuchrock".

The picture was likely taken prior to 1940 because the breast eagle used on the tuchrock was ordered to be worn on the fliegerbluse as well in that year. In the photo, none of the men wearing the flyer's blouse have a breast eagle.

They all have nice leather boots on, another indication that this picture was taken earlier in the war.

Their belt bucles are of good quality. This also indicates that this photo was taken earlier in the war.

The photo was taken in the spring or summer as those seasons permitted the wearer to unbutton the top button of his tunic.
