I am still buffering this video(while typing this...net is dead right now, lol) but if notoriety system has been removed...then...how the hell will the templars attack our dens? I mean, they said if there is too much notoriety, our Assassin Dens will be under attack...

Sorry, but you can still become notorious, i managed to do so when i played through, and had to bribe some heralds to reduce my notoriety.

So i'm not quite sure what they meant there.

If the AC2/ACB noteriaty system is gone, they'd have to switch back to the AC1 system (which was a noteriety system of sorts, just a bit primitive.)

Otherwise the game will be like AC2\B where you're wearing the Constant Anomynity capes, and everyone ignores you = boring.

This interview with Darby McDevitt (http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/10/11/the-end-of-an-era-revelations-lead-writer-talks-ezios-final-saga/) explains the new notoriety system and is the best interview I've read to date, with lots of other great details. He says the notoriety meter no longer works as a measure of how aware the guards are of you, but it measures how aware the Templars are of the Assassins' activities. When the notoriety meter gets full, that's when one of your dens will get attacked. But guards will always treat you with the same awareness -- the Ottoman guards will always be neutral and act like guards in the last 2 games when you have no notoriety, unless they are after you for a story reason. And the Byzantine guards will always attack you on site, like when you were notorious in the last 2 games. You can lure them into fighting each other as well, and you can tell them apart on the mini-map by yellow dots for the Ottoman guards and red dots for the Byzantine guards.

The change will take some getting used to for me, but I think I like it. You'll have to be more aware when you're in the city and avoid the Byzantine guards or hide from them when they're around. It seems like it would make things more difficult, and more interesting than going through the constant back and forth loop of being notorious and then anonymous, since you can experience both effects at the same time. It also seems like as you take and hold more dens, you'll decrease the presence of hostile Byzantine guards, so you won't have to worry about them as much as you take over the city. And if you get notorious and let dens get retaken by the Templars, the Byzantine guard presence will increase again and have a similar effect as making you more notorious to city guards in the past games.

Twenty glyphs: yes, when you take dens, the area does indeed replace the guards with the more cooperative Ottoman guards over the Byzantine and about vice versa when loosing a Den.

I think I like this new system to http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

allows for some strategic planning like when they lured a patrol to attack a Den that Ezio needs to conquer.

it'll be fun to run down a street, getting chased by an angry mob of templars, and run right into some Ottomens. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

then we can just climb and building, turn round and watch the street brawl.

How will the notoriety works in terms of removing it?Will be removable by killing Officers, taking down posters or bribe heralds?

Because in this game that wouldn't make sense because it has been stated that when you get FULL notoriety the Templars will attack your Den,so if it's removable(like in previous games) your Den would never be attacked by the Templars, losing all the interest of the Dens...

See what I mean guys? What do you think?

Cheers

I think it'll be the same as AC2 and ACB, where we have to take down posters, kill officials and bribe herralds.

Escoblades said that during his playthrough of the demo, he had to bribe some herralds to get rid of it.

Personally, I hope they add a fourth option.

I also hope they still have those messengers we can kill and loot for loads of cash, i just hope we'll be abel to hear them this time.

Yes I don't disagree but if Ubisoft said that the Templars will attack the Dens when you rich full notoriety, what's the point of removing notoriety? That way the Dens are never attacked :\ See what I mean?I like to see how Ubisoft gonna do this...

He pretty much says Desmond will get up and out. I knew he would of course but that's just awesome.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm almost never notorious in AC2 or ACB, it's so easy to avoid when posters and heralds are everywhere. I was hoping that by Revelations they would have replaced those with something different. I'm getting kinda tired of ripping down posters all the time.

Well, looking at the system as it was explained in the interview, Escoblades may have been playing an older build that still had the old version of notoriety.

Perhaps but he played about 2 weeks ago and I don't think that was an old build :\

There may be something "connecting" the Dens and the notoriety that we don't know at this time.

I truly missed Sibrand's voice. Enjoyed hearing it again. AC1 was truly a psychological thriller and cultural masterpiece. I really didn't give a f*** about the gameplay, I was so soaked in the story.

AC2 had like half the coolness the first one had, and Brotherhood and Revelations, while also being enjoyed, there are mainly Prince of Persia set in AC environment.

If you can be "psycologically thrilled" by long stretches of bleh investigations punctuated by the guy you kill saying "You're no better than me", the most tired evil villian death ever, then I am deeply concerned for you.

Even Brotherhood had a better story than AC1, though it really slipped up on the ending.

It fell apart at the end while AC got way better at the end, but disregarding that, Brotherhood was better the rest of the time.

I would put a spoiler warning for this. Though I doubt it will be up for much longer anyway. But it's cool to see though.
