These belong to a neighbour of my Mum who has decided she would like to know about her late husbands, fathers Great War Medals... I know the one in the centre was given to all who faught in the Great War, as I think the one right of centre is the Kings Medal? The one on the left is the most interesting though...

I know I could Google and find out myself... But I thought it would be nice to hear your opinions...

Top left I guess the N.W.F would be North West Frontier? I think was conected to fighting Afghans at the Kyber pass (The Geographical one, before Low gets any cumin and tumirc induced twitches) not technically part of the 1st world war but perhaps as the war was not officialy over until 1919 (when the treaty of versai was signed) this conflict came under services during the war? I am not surem, my miltary expert seems to think there was some kind of intention for the Turks to invade India but not sure if it ever actually came to hostilities.

Thats about all I have to offer but thanks for sharing the images. Hope you can find out more.

Hi
The 2 on the right are general service medals which were issued to all troops who served in the great war 1914-18,they say 1919 (which also appears on some war memorials) ,because as was said above ,the war can be said to end officially with the treaty of Versaille.Armistice means ceasefire, this is a technicallity though!!!!
Im afraid because they are so common (millions of them )they are not worth much ,tens of pounds depending on condition thats all.
The first is more interesting as it refers to the North west frontier of india (in which we fought an almost continuos war with the local tribesmen (sounds like today lol).Nothing to do with the first world war as such though, just a colonial policing exercise to protect the Raj.
It is more collectable and is worth more than the others. Good luck.

To the best of my knowledge the ribbons of the two general service medals have been swapped with each other, although there could be some service related reasons for this.
