Does anyone have any information on the structure of German bomber formations during the battle of Poland and the battle of Britain?

If I remember correctly, the formation was a 4-8 aircraft V layout, several V's deep...I think...

Take a look here:

http://www.luftarchiv.de/luftwaffe/kampf.htm

These are the standard-formations. Text is in german, but the images should be understandable.

Kette = 3 a/c

Staffel = 9 a/c (3x Kette)

Gruppe = 27 a/c (3x Staffel) + 3 a/c Gruppenstab [Gruppen-Staff]

Geschwader = 90 a/c (3x Gruppe) + 3 a/c Geschwaderstab + 0-9 a/c Stabstaffel (for Recon missions)

Yes, buy it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have it but no time to scan now. Has half a dozen diagrams of the used formations, plus more on used tactics.

Excellent read. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
