Can anybody tell me the name of the movie about the development of the Spitfire? I thought it starred Leslie Howard as R.J. Mitchell but nothing shows up in bio. This must be an easy one for Dance and Company.

From the R.J. Mitchell entry in Wikipedia:

His life and the sacrifices he made to keep going despite pain and impending death were the subject of the 1942 Leslie Howard film The First of the Few.

That's the one I was looking for! How could I have missed it? Many thanks WP_Lobo.

Now to see if I can find a download for it.

good flick...a "little dry", but the subject seems aptly covered.

I have recently bought a book entitled 'Spitfire portait of a legend' by Leo McKinstry and it has opened my eyes about the development of the Spitfire and not only the good but the bad and downright ugly too, a balanced read so far.
