Can someone post both perfect and excellent screens of the ocean (maybe w/ some reefs) so I can see what they are supposed to look like? Please.

In this game, Perfect and Excellent look just about the same to me anyway. And if you use ForceShaders1x=1, it look awsome in Excellent mode. When the sun's at an angle to the ocean when you use Forceshaders1x, you get a realistic, distant glare effect.

Here is the same shot in both excellent and perfect on an X800Pro. The screenshots have been downsized, but were taken with game settings of 1600 x 1200 with 2 x FSAA. The FPS is rather lower than would be normal because of the trees in the background. Usually I play in perfect at this resolution and most of the time, in-cockpit, get 35 - 55 FPS.

The perfect water is set to water = 0, the lowest detail setting. Water = 1 looks better (more small-scale waves) but hurts the FPS more.

The screenshots are slightly unfair to excellent mode because it looks at its worst by islands. From above a few hundred m height, it's not too bad. Equally, perfect puts the same ripples and waves on river surfaces - which looks silly.

Regards,

RocketDog.

Here is a couple shots at 1024x768. I normally run at 1152x864. I'll try to get some of those in a bit. I am currently doing some testing. Try the settings in my sig!

Coastie, just for the heck of it and to see the diff in fps, turn Forceshaders1x on. I'm just curious to see the differences side by side.

Thanks in advance.

I believe if you turn Forceshaders1x on, you'll see a slight increase in fps and won't believe your eye's. On the x800, it works fine. You'll need a tissue, lololololol. But I've read it really doesn't work well on a 6800 though. It gives kind of a mesh effect.
