Hi all,

I´m considering to buy a new rig. But I don´t know what graphic video card should I get?. Firstly I was determined to buy a NVidia SLI system, surely 2 6800GT´s, just only to enjoy the perfect water (3)!. But after seeing ATI can do the same with only an atioglxx.dll file and with a water=0 equivalent fps...now I don´t know what to do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

How many fps should I expect with an AMD FX55 and X800-XT card?.

Also I think SLI technology is not yet fully operative, is it?

Help me mates, it´s a huge money inversion and don´t want to get the wrong way...

Thanks all,

.

I started flying this sim when the original IL 2 came out on a Geforce Ti 4200 128 mb card and it played great and looked great. I later went to a ATI Radeon 9600 128 card and for awhile the game looked better but the overall performance never measured up to the Nvidia card. I recently went back to Nvidia with a 5700 card and it plays and looks great considering I'm playing on a system that is pushing 3 years old. The game is made on Nvidia cards, as well. Nothing personal against ATI cards but Nvidia is - in my opinion - a better overall buy.

hope this helps,
Rick

Both top of the line cards from ATI and Nvidia will make you druel when you see the quality of the graphics. Capbackward I`d have thought going from a Ti4200 to a 9600 was a step backward, I went from a 4200 to a 9800 and the 9800 blows the 4200 away. As far as FPS it`s hard to pin down without a full system specs.

I had an old 4200 that was a Direct X 8 card. I went to the 9600 Radeon which was a Direct X 9 card and it looked very fine but never gave me the consistant performance Nvidia does on my system. Granted the system a person has can affect things, as well.

The card is one puzzle piece. It is not the end all, be all. A great card with a low end processor acts differently than a PC with other attributes.

At one time last year, ATI was the preferred card for 1C:Maddox Games. Now it seems to be NVidia. I hope no one here thinks that relationship will last forever.

Anybody using ATI X800-XT?

System´s specs and Fps, please.

Now that ATI cards can also run the "Full" Perfect mode, is it really worth spending money in 2 cards-SLI system?. AFAIK single Geforce 6800 ultra will give fewer fps (water=3) than ATI X800xt (water=0) for the same visuals quality...won´t it? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Please, tell me if i´m wrong. I don´t really know.

JACN12, I have the system described below. It runs 1200x1600x32 6XAA with everything on at 60+ FPS. It will not use shader 3.0 but the water with water=0 and atigloxx.dll looks magnificent. BTW, don't buy a system, build it. You'll have a better system for a lot less money.

Thanks a million ddsflyer. That´s the kind of reply i wanted!.BTW Great fps!.

Two more question:
What number of AF?.

Do you get those 60´s in complex missions: say 20 or more planes flying and carrier takings-off...?
