I would like to thank all those responsible for the creation of IL2 Ult@Pack V 2.1
I have flown 1946 since day one,It is now a totally new experience, the engine sounds both in start up and flyby are so like the real thing!also all the extras that the pack contains.

I'm not sure if this post, seeing that it deals with advertizing a Mod falls within the lines of protocal. but thanks again. JM "One happy pilot"

I hear you.

UP is amazing. It's like having an entirely new game. Well worth the effort--which in my case, was quite a bit, actually.

Yes it really is great and I've had very few problems with UP. It really freshens up the game's appearance. The game looks less dated and less cartoonish and is just a lot sharper looking now. It gives me a slightly noticeable hit in fps but it still runs very well.

You mentioned an appearance update-Is this concerning the map and cockpit updates, or is there something more?

I use HSFX along with some extras. Is UP better?

With UP2.01 you get both http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

All of the ground textures look a lot sharper and more textured, and the colors are darker and more realistic. Planes look sharper too.

I can post some pics comparing UP to stock later on.

I agree, it seems a new game ... apart from the sounds and the look, it has a pile of nice functionalities and gorgeous new maps ... go to Spits vs. 109s in HL to check them ... you will be surprised as I was.

Patrolling the English coast above Dungeness in a Rotte of 109 E-4 and saving my wingman (actually my son) from a Spit was quite an experience ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The more I delve into this Ultr@pack upgraded flight sim the more surprised I become???

When you open up the Quick mission Builder and see the ammount of flyable planes that are now available,it can't be far short of every plane ever conceived upto the 1950's eg, and for all you four engine types out there, B17,B24,B29,FW 200,and two night missions in a Halifax.Sad no Lancaster but lets not be greedy!and the early jet age Mig15,Mig17,F80,F84,F86
Can it get better than this! if so, then "Storm of War" has been worth waiting for, dont you agree?.............Cheers. JM

S!

Pick the best mods out there, combine them and enjoy the game as YOU want it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif IL-2 has come a long way since the first screenies 1999 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Storm Of War will be the new benchmark, but will take a while until it reaches the level of content IL-2 has now. Sure it will be better in many respects, but will take time. Meanwhile we can enjoy with IL-2..and soon hopefully along with SoW.

I'll bet that rectangular smoke trail really hammers the frame rates, looks crappy as well...

no diff to frame rates at all, and each to there own on how it looks, i think the stock effect looks crappy so.....;

its not actually a UP mod, so you don't have to hate is so much, lol.

I've tried both and I prefer HSFX. UP is more like the wild-west of mods, imho.

Thanks for your opinion, indeed I remember how UP had all the extra franken-stuff I didn't really care for, so I guess I'll stick with HSFX and a custom mod folder for now... Hope they'll keep updating it though.

Any good missions that feature Palau? I really want to get involved with that area of operations now! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

HSFX changes to much stock stuff for my liking, weapons, artillery the list is extensive, and this has been reverted back to stock values in UP, but then HSFX its built primerially for seow, so each to there own.

I pretty much fly only UP now but I have about five copies of various iterations of the game on a couple different hard drives. I have stock 4.08 and 4.09, an old AAA install just to name a few. But I'll fire up UP2.01 every time to actually play the game.

When 4.10 comes out, I'll patch it over my 4.09 and play that for the new planes I won't have in UP2.01. But I'm sure they'll quickly update UP for patching over the new 4.10 stuff. Then we'll have everything!!
