I have this problem and if find the reason in the fkid topic. I use the same skin, the same chess board, and the same opponent as in CM10th, but in CM11th the mentor line make the game crash... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
So i do the same in CM11 than in CM10 but without the mentor line and without post game analysis feature, tell me please where is the improvement! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Did someone resolve this problem?
UBI can you do an update to correct this problem?
For the moment this new version seems under the old...

fkid topic:
UPDATE: Another problem fixed. For anybody experiencing freezing or tremendous slow-downs during offline games and you're using a single-core CPU like the AMD Athlon 64 3800+, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you turn OFF the Post-Game Analysis feature in the Engine options. It is the biggest CPU killer feature for older single-core CPUs. And of course, using any Mentor features may degrade performance as well. Mentor Lines for example crashes the game for me after the first move. Fortunately, I can still play without any Advice etc. Looks like you need a more modern CPU to have the most powerful features available.

I believe when you launch Mentor Lines, another instance of TheKing engine is launched to observe the game. Somehow, after that happens, the game crashes after the first move whe Mentor Lines start really doing their calculations. I strongly believe it is only a problem with single-core, older CPUs. So, I think aside from the new tutorials on learning how to play chess and some more chess boards, this game is not much better than Chessmaster 10th Edition. You'll need a more modern CPU to fully utilize all the new features.

If you have a problem just ask and wait for us to find out an answer or a solution. But, first of all we should get exactly the situation when it comes.
Just please do not collect what others say without verify first or try to see if you have the same behavior. If you read correct the item from where comes this comment (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4221052685/m/6701041606) you'll see it is not because of the CM application. And the conclusion is not fair enough. If you read carefully the readme file you can find out what you should do in such case. To resume: there is a list with all graphical cards supported by CM (General information, point 2). There is also a short description about the chess engine (see section II, point 5 and "Useful information:" point 2)
So, let's talk, not claim as bad what is not or could be fixed.

I have finally found exactly what is the problem! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif
There is a conflict between the mentor line analyse and the Post-Game Analysis feature.
Indeed, if I put "off" the post game analysis, i let run the mentor analyse line and i play a move, the programm immediatly crash after the computer move.
On the other hand if i put "on" the post game analysis, there is absolutly no problems! I can let run the mentor analyse, modify all other engine options and 3D option, all is OK when i start and play a game.
The problem is that the post game analysis make my computer significantly slow down, so i have to put it off... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif
Can you tell me, if you do the same (post game analysis OFF, mentor line RUN during the game), if the programm crash for you?
Have you find a solution?

This is a bug, but with the "Blunder Alert" option activated the game doesn't crash anymore. The next patch will fix also this problem.
Thanks.

Don't forget to kill the chess engine! It should remain active when the CMXI crash. For details, see the readme file, in "Useful information:" point 1.
