Any ideas guys? Sometime (but not always) when my plane takes a hit, the screen goes black at the precise moment when I take the hit...at this point if I hit escape then return to mission, the screen remains black (the game is still running, can only be heard, not seen).
Can anyone help me with this problem please?

Regards,
Mark

You should also get a "Pilot killed" message.
i think.
I haven't played in about a week so my senses are getting fuzzy! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you have externals enabled, next it happens press F2 or F3. If you can switch views and see your plane still flying, your pilot is dead.

Thanks, but not I know that I'm having a problem because when it happens, I have no external views...nothing but blankness.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

> When you take a hit and the screen goes blank, this indicates that your pilot is killed.

> Unless you hit an external veiw key (F2, F3, etc.), nothing else will happen until your aircraft hits the ground, at which time your veiw will switch to an external veiw.

> You are suffering no hardware or software problems.

> So, try not to get killed, 'kay? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Have to admit it caught me out first time I experienced it as well.

Unfortunately I'm well used to it by now... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Are you sure that you are not just closing your eyes when hit? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's ok, even with DiD I always get "reincarnated" as a new pilot. Always the same epoch however... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I am not sure if this is supposed to happen because you are dead, or if it is a software bug. When I get killed, I usually get the "Pilot Killed" prompt in the lower left part of the screen. I am still able to see everything, I just can't control anything. All external views work, and my cockpit view still works as well. This has always happened in all parts of the game other than the campaign mode of the game.

I have only had the screen go black one time when I was killed. This happened in the dynamic campaign, so perhaps the screen is set to go black in this part of the game.

When I get killed, the screen goes black and "Pilot Killed" pops up in white letters. I can go to external view and see my aircraft, but I have no control over it, of course. I rarely get killed more than once per mission. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Facts:

1) If your pilot gets killed the screen goes black with nothing on it at all.

2) If you have externals enabled you can sometimes (if you quick) switch to external and see the 'Pilot Killed' message.

3) The black screen never says 'Pilot Killed'

That is all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you have the hudlog.. which is the message which tells you POWE 50%, Prop Pitch 90% etc... disabled in the config file you wont see any message.

Again, it is not a software bug.

If you disabled "Pilot Blackouts / Redouts" in the difficulty menu, then the screen will not black out when your pilot gets killed. If that difficulty option is enabled, then the screen will black out when the pilot perishes.
