Not sure if anyone is aware of this:
For those worried about having to change regions to play the DVD, there is software available that will allow you to play any DVD with any region code without having to change the region setting in Windows (remember, we have only a limited # of times we are allowed to change the region.)
The software is called DVD X-Ghost (I have no affiliation or connection with the publisher or company) - it sounds promising as a workaround in case the DVD doesn't make it to the US. Here's their site:

DVD region codes generally apply only to DVD-V (movies). Region locks are at the descretion of the publisher and rarely are used on data discs.

correct, the regions are there because of diffrent countries video standards; PAL, SECAM, NTSC. etc.

Not the only reason... they're also there at the insistence of publishing firms to protect local distributors in countries with high costs of living from cheap (but legal) imports. Region coding sux http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif
