I've just recently started to venture to online fighting, so I'm spending a lot of time in the "Air Quake" arenas to practice gunnery and ground attack. I'm not sure I'm good enough yet to try co-op missions, but maybe someday.

My question revolves around vulching. Now, I'm not talking about strafing with machine guns, we should ALL know that's looked down upon. I'm referring to using a fighter armed with a bomb and flying into the enemy airbase and pegging someone trying to take off. The question is how annoying is that to people on those servers? I mean, will people begin to hate me if I practice bombing runs on them (heh heh, that sounds strange)? Or do people usually just say "ok, ya got me..." and climb into another and keep playing?

I guess I just want to make sure that by practicing ground attack, I don't want to make a name for myself and end up having everybody hate me for it.

On a side note if anybody cares to know, I did have my first aerial kill online the other day. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Most servers allow rockets or bombs to be used on aircraft on the ground just no guns. Read the rules of the server and go from there.

I like going into air quake servers, taking a Do-335 upto 4000m and dive bombing the enemy base with a SC1000 bomb. Since none of these folks know what 4000m looks like you're immune to intercept and the SC1000 will take out several guys in a shot if they are starting up.

Its hilarious http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good idea! But it's dangerous to encourage me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

I usually get into a bomber if I go after the opfor airfield. I guess using a fighter with bombs is alright, I wouldnt mind if I were on the ground getting attacked, its war. The Geneva Convention doesn't say anything about airfields long as their not full of civilians.

I dont bomb the airfields trying for the opfor online players thou either, if their there when I get there, and drop bombs Owell. I normally bomb the equipment, and buildings, and the actual runway.

Nobody ever says anything neg either, actually they say Good Bombrun.

Vulching or strafing used to cause much angst amongst pilots because no one likes dying before during or just after takeoff. It`s unsporting. But many forget it happened all the time in reality.

Now the complaints are much less and I think it`s because Hosts learned to put AAA up on their airfields (something that was tough to do in the early days due to fps drop) and more players actually DEFEND their own airfields allowing others to get up.

Nowadays, strafing is an art in itself and takes some skill to get out of it without being shot down.... at least on the more realistic servers. I have no idea what the airquake servers are like, still flying WW and unlimited ammo I would imagine... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
