Here is what Catalyst 3.5 release notes said about resolved game issues:

"Setting the display resolution to 1024x768 32bpp and enabling OpenGL no longer results in the ground being discolored in the game IL2 Forgotten Battles"

But there are ongoing problems with this release. Known issues included:

"Setting the Landscape details to Perfect in the game IL2 Stumovik Forgotten Battles results in the system not responding during the track playback"

Since 3,4, my Catalyst drivers keep uninstalling themselves randomly, I have no idea why. Had to revert to 3.2.

I have the latest VIA chipset drivers, and I think in one of the "fixes" listed on an older version said somehting about ATI drivers unistalling. I can't figure it out as everything is up to date. The 3.5s do work nice when they stay installed, and I could finally run the game without texture corruption in perfect mode. If anybody has any idea what might be wrong, or who has had similar experiences, I would appreciate any info.

I'm switching to a 5900 Ultra. This is my first ATI card (9800), and it will be my last.

It's a shame really, ATI makes amazing cards but their drivers are enough to make you never want to buy one again. It has been this way for a long time, you would think it would have improved by now. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I'm still undecided what my next card will be, as of now I am certainly leaning towards Nvidea.

Yeah that's certainly true. But I'm at the point where I keep hoping the next 'soon to be released' drivers will cure problems and so keep on buying ATI cards...just bought the 9700 pro. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

never got any problem with my radeon 9700 pro and i O/Ced too.
in my experience, i see more problem/abnormal images with my GF4 4600 than my radeon.

Yep my two geforce 4 tis sucked azz with drivers.
artifacts and bsods all the time, even with fresh installs on multiple systems.

My 9700 non pro running pro speeds with both the cat 3.4 and cat 3.5 work fine.

I don't use the ingame screen capture, only FRAPS.

If you can't use a radeon correctly then nvidia won't be any better.

I've used many cards and have built many systems and nvnidia is not better than ati with drivers.

With both you need to do clean installs when swapping between vendors' cards.

When does it auto uninstall your drivers?

If you do not unplug your internet connection(or disable it), Windows will overwrite the cat drivers with its core drivers. I always disable my lan when installing drivers.

I have been using the Cat drivers since they came out and have never experienced a single problem with them. I am currently able to run perfect with my 8500! It is not what I would call playable(20-24fps) But it sure is beautiful! I usually get about 50-70 fps online on excellent settings.
