I bought The last flight of the Luftwaffe by Adrian Weir yesterday. It makes for some very interesting reading.

one quote that stands out for me is on page 62 " on completion of this epic Goebbels is said to have remarked to those within his circle of friends that in 100 years time a similar film would be made of their own desperate struggle through their darkest days."

He wasn't that far off, it's been sixty years and now we have The Downfall.

Anyway, the book is about the Luftwafe trying to do a Kamikaze mission on an 8th AF bomberraid.

i remember reading about that once. I think they told them they should try to bail after ramming but that isnt really very realistic. Maybe they got thier inspiration from the soviets.

Does it have any details about how successful they were or the tactics they were using?

casualty figures for both the raid the defending forces are given.

As far as tactics go, areas to hit on the bombers are mentioned and the use of jets and other conventional aircraft in drawing of the escorts are described.
