If you complain about Il-2 you don't know how good you have it.

Allow me to present; The bad ol' days.

As stalker said, in the future people will point and laugh at this sim as well.

That looked a lot like the original Red Baron to me. Those were the days. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Ughhh,, made me shiver just looking and remembering, thought they were great at the time though.

As someone has pointed out what will they be like in 20 years time...

My first serious one was Fighter Duel Corsair vs Zero on the Amiga, the first Hi-res (640x480 interlaced video) flight sim, and with moving gauges even. One v One over modem or lan. What a blast, for years.

I'd heard flying in WWI sucked, but that's just terrible.

I don't remember really how it looked like, I played "Wings" on Amiga, before any of these sims were out.
I remember only the feeling and that is what counts. If I feel right when I play some game that is what is important to me.

And yes, in future we will look at this game just as we look at all those games that we, at some point in the time, loved to play.

My first two flight sims:

http://www.c64gg.com/Images/P/Project_Stealth_Fighter_ingame2.gif

both on the c64. Gunship is now more than 20 years old!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Although we may be laughing at IL2 in 10 years time, we've never had it so good just now.

One cave man says to the other.. " Ug I am so thankful for these new flint spears. Much better then throwing big rocks at animals don't you think.." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

In the future people will probably have microchip devices implanted in their heads that will allow one to call and receive messages, do any work we do now on our computers as well as play any game one wants on this same connection for a monthly fee..

our PC setups and games will look as archaic as stone impliments.

Wow... I really enjoyed playing Red Baron and Red Baron 3d... In fact, almost 6 years ago I was flying RB3d with the "Knights of the Northern Sky" squadron!

Those were good times, since now I havenĀ“t got much spare time or the skill needed to play IL2 over the net...

What does that mean? You didn't enjoy the simming days of yore? I sure did; I cut my flight sim teeth on Red Baron. I can still remember how all the in-game music sounded...

Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Sim! I loved that one (2.0 version)! Eventually though I lost the manual, so I could never play the game--the anti-piracy feature, like many games at that time, would pose a question that the user could only answer with the aid of the manual (eg "What is the first word of the third paragraph on page 37?") before the game would actually load.

Great game...
