Ever since Oleg porked the elevator response on late 109s I have flown 190 almost exclusively.

The G10 is my preference. It climbs like a homesick angel and will give any late model allied fighter a tough go.

Late war? Got to be a Tempest, surely?

Early-mid Me109 or Fw190, preferable D9

G6-early and onwards is not my cup of tea..mainly because i hate the Mk108 as a fighter against fighter weapon, just cant hit with that thing.

You left out the 109K4C3, therefore the results of this poll is &$*&@!. How could someone leave out the C3?? It even seems to handle differently. The regular K4 and the K4C3 are for sure two different planes. They just look a lot alike is all.

Eastern Front K-4, Western Front G-10.

G6/AS (due to 20mm option) and K4 when speed, climb and high alt performance have the priority.

This Poll is skewed! I use a different 109 depending on what I am fighting!

For late Spits my preference is the G-10 while fighting Lavochkins I prefer the G2/G-6/AS. And for fighting Mustangs and P-47 up high it is the K-4 C3. For fighting agile TNB early planes I use the F-4 (Friedrich).

I voted G6A/S however I dont really like the later (G6 and after) 109's.

I LOVE the E/F4/G2 models however.

One of this sims high points has to be the 109F4 vs SPitfire Vc joust.

I'm hoping SOW has a similar balance between the Spitfire 1 and 109E3. The SPit 1 will hold up in pure performance better vs the 109E3 than the mkVc does vs the bf109F4, but will have the neg G cutout to contend with and also the fabric ailerons resulting in worse roll than the V.

SHould be an equally awesome joust.

Agreed!

Some say it's boring to have the same old matchup all the time on certain online servers.. To me, it never gets old (flying either side btw).

For this poll I voted G6/AS. It's the only one of the options that doesn't just feel wierd to me. And like some other responders, I prefer the 20mm cannon.

I generally don't fly the late war 109s, but when I do, I tend to fly the 'earliest' that I can.

Also, could someone actually explain to me the diff b/w the K4 and K4C3? I don't fly either of them enough to know (assuming there is a real difference).

C3 is a type of gasoline. Cannot tell you what differences it made to performance.

Personally the "latest" I tend to fly is the E7 but prefer the E4B. I am an Emil man really.

Didn't higher quality/octane fuel allow the engine to run higher manifold pressures for more power?

The K-4 C-3 is fueled with 100/150 grade fuel which the Germans designated as C-3 (their 87 octane fuel was designated B-4). Its actually the same aircraft and the same engine, running at different fuels, and different boosts. The one named simply as 'K-4' runs on B-4 fuel, at 1.8ata manifold pressure and has 1850 horsepower. The one named 'K-4 C-3' runs on 1.98ata manifold pressure, and has 2000 horsepower (up to its rated altitude, at high altitude its the same performance as the B4 one). This is an unoffical designation of the game developer, historically all of these aircraft were just designated 'K-4'.

You can find a bit more information here:

I also prefer to fly the Emils. I actually HATE the cowl guns in the 109s, and tend to use them only to freak people out into turning off a buddy. Gimme the pair of 20mms in the wings any day, even over a 30mm in the nose.
