Other than the paint jobs...could someone please tell me the difference between the P51D-20NA and the P-51D-5NT.
I've checked the aircraft page on this site, the IL-2 read-me and view objects/aircraft in the game itself and I can't find anything that will tell me the differences in those two rigs.

Thanks in advance.

Coincidence...I think not !!!

I don't remember offhand which one has it, but one of them uses the K-14 gunsight. This sight has a gyro system for helping you to compute lead and can be adjusted to the target plane. IMHO I have found the sight to be hard to use in the gyro mode and usually just lock it, good ole' Kentucky windage is good enough for me.

Civildog beat me to it while I was posting about gunsights.

The P-51NA has the K-14 gunsight. Like the others, I haven't had much luck with it and I prefer seat-of-the-pants deflection shooting. To my knowledge, the aircraft are identical except for the gunsight. I certainly haven't been able to discern any other differences.

I agree, i don't see any differance except for the K-14 gunsight, and i might add that it looks better with the New gunsight.

I also don't find much use for it.

There are differences in the panels besides just the gunsights.

NA and NT are the designations for the different Plants that the P51 was assembled in. Both are identical aircraft except for the Gyro site.

Seems as in real life, most pilots prefer the gyro sight in the fixed mode. To quote a WW2 P51 pilot, "The lead computing gunsight took 2 seconds to compute. Two seconds is a lifetime in a dogfight."

Something like that anyway. Have it turned on when a 109/190 begins to scissor. You will shut it off asap.

I like the dual mode where you show Fixed and the Gyro, nice gunsight IMHO and very easy to get kills with.
