Today I went to Degerfeld (Germany) to see the official maiden flight of a Me109 G4 with an original DB605 engine wich was restored the last 7 years by mainly 3 men.
I can tell you she is just amazing ! Now I saw every flying Me109 in the world.
If you're living in Germany near the Schw├┬Ąbische Alb, you have to go to Degerfeld (Albstadt/Biez) to see this beauty.
I thought Duxford was great this year, but a very low flying Me109 is just amazing !
When she started the engine i was standing a few meters behind her and it almost blew me away :-)
Then she took off and made a few flyby's. After she landed another pilot flew her, this time Walter Eichhorn who is flying the Me109's of the Messerschmitt foundation. And this guy showed us how to fly this baby :-)
A wonderful Start, very low passes (I think just 20 meters), a little formation flying with a T6 (for photos) and an incredible landing.

I'm loading up a few pics and vids of the 109 right now (sorry for the quality).

So this year I saw 12 Spitfires, 3 (4) Hurricanes, 2 Corsairs, 1 Wild/Hell/Tiger/Bearcat, DC3, I-15, 2 B17, 2 B25, 1 P47, 4 P51, Me108, Me109 and some more flying.
I would say, it was a great year for watching Warbirds !

Thanks so much for taking these beautiful pictures and posting them here-so that we can all see them! It means alot to us (at least to the fellas that have posted in your thread-and obviously yourself!)

They are all saved on my HD and I'll use them as templates and wallpapers! I'm also quite jealous of what you experienced! LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Thanks Again!

@JG4_Bendwick: Funny, I have almost the same vids as yours on your HP. So I stood right next to the guy (you?) how shot them.

i dont like that german flag on the tail

i think they should use accurate signs(the swastika, because thats the sign those planes flew with....NOT with a german flag

Display of the swastika and any other memorabilia is a criminal offence (usually), in Germany and some other Euro states. Also I presume there are certain statutuary regulations regarding registration marks etc for civil aircraft which I presume for legal purposes this is.
Someone who knows the actual laws in Germany correct me if Im wrong.

yes, this is correct. so its not a 100% historical skin but i think, its not realy matter if the baby passed you with 600km/h. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

merlin powered or not .. a Hispano 109 is at least a real 109

it must really get up the nose of merlin fans that whenever a merlin/DB swap took place (the merlin 109s and the DB powered Hurries and Spits) the DB engined variant outperformed the merlin one every time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thank you, marvellous endeed!

I have a question for you. I have heard a rumour, that there is a hide under some of the Berlin airfields, a bunker or so, consting of several full loaded wartime aeroplanes. According to that rumour the bunker was never found by the occupiers.

I did not read this story by myself, but instead of that, I heard it from a fellow who had read something about it in webb.

What do you know about it?

Kindly,
Wallstein
