I like the new 1946 game and all its collection, but why didn't we get a North Africa map? I mean one for offline flying.
Are there plans to add maps as patches later?

Don't expect a dedicated North Africa map to ever be put into the game. I won't say it can't or won't happen, but technically the series is at its end and 1C wants to move on to the Storm of War series. The Burma, Norway and Italy maps that were included 1946 as bonus maps were third-party projects that were started many months ago; the Slovakia map and Ian Boys' desert map are the only projects that I know of that are still 'in the pipeline.'

That said, the screenshots I've seen of Ian's desert map are very promising. It has scrubbly grass textures that are generic enough to be 'someplace in North Africa.' (If it's in the game already and I've missed it, I apologize).

Since you've qualified your question with the statement "for offline flying," I guess you already know about the desert mountains map. It has been used for several user-made North Africa campaigns. Look for Enjoyr's patches that add at least one Italian DGen campaign on this map. You can also plot your own missions in Full Mission Builder, of course. And I'm betting that DCG has a campaign template for this map. (I'd normally also recommend the UberQuick Mission Generator, but UberDemon's site is unfortunately AWOL at this time.)

Try the Desert Online map. Looks pretty darn good to me.

I suggest you DL Mission Mate... and make some of your own offline missions with the desert map.

And he asks...."where's the RAF?"
I have fun learning how to set up the gliders.
Trying to get the gliders to land where u want them is a trick.....they end up half mile from where I wanted them. Or if the tow planes speed is too high, they flop around and detach too early....I had them too close together and they collided! That ends the training misson!

I always thought that wa a silly scene myself. Why would anyone use He-111's to strafe? I guess those must have been the only German planes the film makers had available.

William-

you can fly any map you like offline. The maps in the QMB are not the only ones that offliners may use. You may fly any map at all in offline play, there are no online/offline map restrictions

While all that maybe true remember how much of a turn off the FMB was when you first tried it. Bear in mind that as of right now neither MM or the UQMG have the new Med map or Italian maps in them. So considering that he has 5 posts and giving him the benifit of the doubt as far as not being a fisherman.. His question is somewhat valid. Your answer is equally valid.. but he mayh not be aware of that.

Actually William the FMB isnt that hard to use.. it just seems that way at first. But Mission Mate and the UQMG which both can be found in my sig are great places to make missions using the desert map.. and I am sure it wont be long till those maps are added to both.
