Yes I did mean the link I posted *but* I have been trying to find out about the man to the left of Peter Townsend - J W Simpson the subject of the book 'Combat Report' By Hector Bolitho published in 1943. After the Battle of Britain he went on to command 245(?) squadron near Belfast and was on the periphery of the Hess affair. Does anyone know anything about what happened to him after Hess landed? I believe he was moved from 245(?) squadron immediately after the Hess affair but have been unable to find out anything subsequent. Did he get another squadron? Did he survive the war? By the way 'Combat Report' is an excellent period read on more than one level.
