With the PC version of SC DA one could crank up the resolution and effects such as anisotropic filtering etc.

But it was also fact (acknowledged by Ubisoft itself in some other interview) that cutbacks were done in terms of character model polygon budgets and decreased texture map sizes.

Hopefully, the PC version of Conviction won't have such cutbacks...or will it !?

i have SC DA and for the most part my rig can handle it:

intel Q9550 Quad @ 2.83 GHz
4 GB OCZ DDR2 800 MHz RAM
275 GTX 896 MB

there were parts of the Kinshasa mission and maybe a couple other parts in the arctic where i could not get playable frames.

i am hoping that the graphics are scalable and with enough options to make it balanced, as well as optimized so that i can have a similar framerate in all areas.

Well, seeing they are again using a modified version of the same UE2.5 engine, I think the scalability will be very limited.

So, I do hope they will keep the polygon counts
in the PC version at least the same as the Xbox360 version.

Really? I have nearly the same rig as you. Q9550 is overclocked to 3.4 GHz, 6 GB DDR2 800 MHz, GTX275 has a small overclock on it too, but I get no lag at all, runs perfect at all times with full AA and AF @1920x1080, it also ran fine on my OLD rig, C2D E7600 and an 8800GT. Got all the patches and latest-ish drivers?

yeah it ran like junk on my last pc too, figured a nice upgrade would do the trick as the requirements years ago are cheaper... like i sad for the most part with updated drivers/ optimized for gaming s/w setup.

i think it was a glitch in the map design tbg.

Ubi developers ? Ubi reps ? Can you give us info on any PC version changes such as polygon count cutbacks or texture size cutbacks !?

Ubi developers? You really expect them to make an appearance around here?

Nice pics & setup http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

But eh... I took a screenshot of my PC version of
Double Agent. I also played the 360 version. This pic makes it clear the PC version has less polys and this is just one of the many cutback examples. So, I hope Conviction won't have such cutbacks ( Sam's entire lower body/legs has lost a lot of polygons compared to the 360 version ) :

Well, there is always Crysis 2 (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/crysis2/news.html?sid=6257424&tag=topslot;title;1&mode=previews) :

Well, I'm not really into FPS games...

And since this Conviction game isn't even the best, visually on the 360. ( plus, Ubi's got more experience after SC DA ) I was kinda hoping/expecting them to make a perfect port without any cutbacks to the PC.

Oh well... probably no dev gonna come here to clear up things either...ugh...

We might find out more about the pc version early next week from pc game review sites?. I'm hoping Ubisoft has made a good job of the pc windows version, because i will be buying it.

From the Dev Q&A...

Some PC-specific Features below:

- Additional options in the video/audio/control menus
- Hi resolutions (tested up to 2560x1440)
- High quality anti-aliasing based on video hardware support
- High resolution shadows
- High quality anisotropic filtering
- Arbitrary screen ratio (4:3, 16:9, 16:10, userís choice)

Hoping for more http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
