Can I ask what planes each side is using in the campaign?

Dunkelgrun
11-26-2005, 06:01 PM
Bf-109E-4_B
C-47
CR_42
Fi-156
G_50
He-111H-2
I-16Type18
I-153M62
Ju-52_3mg4e
Ju-87B-2
SB_2M-100A
U-2VS

are all in the skins folder.
I'd expect I-16, I-153, SB2M, U2V to be Republican;
Bf109, CR42, Fi-156, G-50, He111, Ju52, Ju87 to be Nationalist;
C-47 to be both and maybe the SB2M as well.
Only played the first mission and there's about 200 skins so I haven't looked through them all!

Cheers!

Which campaign branch is it run from?

Should be Russian, C_O, at least the older version was. That's where I downloaded this one, but haven't been able to get to it yet, so I'm not 100% certain.

Sorry can't see the link for the download.. unless forced to register?

Very interesting i read the description and my grand father was executed by those comunistas. That was a big mess during that time and the comunists movement was a total "BS". The name of my grand father is still on the wall as a monument in front the church of La adrada Province of Avila. The Comunist have made some horrible war crimes and executed so many innocent peoples, this is very tabou in Spain The comunists hated the nobles..

Nice, but which 109 was participating in the Civil War? 109 E-2 or some D? I remember I played dogfight scenarios with friends where we used skins for the I-153 and I-16 (it was really I-15 I think, without retractable gear)

Those who used the Emils had to forget the cannons, machinegun only...

For the 109, I used E4B because I have seen in a book that some 109 were equipped with bombs sometimes (fiels made modification...).

Bf109B/C/D and E were used and tested in the Spanish Civil War

Interesting link.

It seem that we used aircraft that might not have been there afterall. The Cr-42 (althought the picture on the site is with nationalist skin!) and the chaika.

And that it was a cannon 109 there afterall.

Dled and played bout half a dozen missions. Talk about hard! Those Falcos have uber pilots who get on your tail in seconds! I need a new plane, I hate I-16s!

A general question for anyone. On the above noted webpage, in "Planes that Served", there is a He-111C that was "Used on supply routes from Germany to the Condor Legion."

My question is - what route would these planes have been flying from Germany to Spain? I'd be quite surprised if France, The Netherlands, Belgium, the UK or Switzerland let them fly over their terrirory, so I guess they flew over Austria to Italy, and then on to Spain?

@Bush Ranger - yeah those CR42s are possessed. It is soooo satifying to send one down in flames. As for the I-16, my advice for this campaign is GET GOOD AT IT QUICK cos you ain't getting anything else http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Learn to enjoy the subtle kills - damaging the opponents controls so they wing in to the ground, inflicting sufficient damage that they are forced to ditch, etc. Also, learn how amazingily agile that thing is - you can loop and turn anywhere, anytime and be around the back of your erstwhile pursuer in seconds flat.Just don't try and outrun a 109. Drag them low and twist them to pieces.
Actually, one very useful point to remember is to use the rudder a lot whenever you dive or roll - it'll help avoid the engine cutting out on you.

Posted this in another thread but I thought it was funny so here it is again:
FLATSPINMAN'S COMPREHENSIVE I-16 GUIDE
Mods-this should probably be stickied or added to the Essentials thread.

============================
Relax, Joe. Help is at hand. I shall lend you some of my hard-won expertise. Feel free to send money - it is no less than I deserve. This offer is available to all of you, so don't be shy. PM me for bank details.

Having played through this excellent campaign and tested the beta of Gaston's Spanish Civil War campaign I have put together the following comprehensive 14-step guide for combat in the I-16.(Also works for the Hurricane and CR-42)

1.Jink.
2.Jink a bit more.
3.Restart engine.
4*.See (3).
5*.Explosively detach outer section of wing(either is fine).
6*.Bail.
7*.Float serenely, enchanted by scenery, birds singing, etc.
8.Tuck and roll.
9.Release chute.
10.Run a bit.
11.Run a bit further.
12.Bend knees quickly then extend legs fully to propel self forwards horizontally into air.
13.Position arms in front of self to absorb impact.
14.Lay still, very still. 109s can detect movement.

Ref: V.V.S. S.O.P in W.W.II.

Note: Some optional steps have been omitted for the sake of brevity.

*Options for step 4.
Find happy place.

*Additions for step 5:
Opt.1. For best results apply Mk 108. MG 151 will suffice however.

*Additions to be inserted after step 5:
Opt.1. Roll violently in direction opposite to severed wing.
Opt.2. Plummet earthwards, bereft of life.
Opt.3. Plummet earthwards scoring fiery trail across the firmament to mark your passing.

*Optional steps for step 7.
7a)Hurtle earthwards in uncontrolled plunge.
7b)Upon reaching final destination spread self thinly over surrounding area.

What map does this use?

For the slow 1930s types, the Kuban map is the most fun, the mountains in the south east map corner. Great place to fly TB-3 missions escorted by -153s and intercepted by .42s or .50s. These planes are slow and low enough you can enjoy the Kuban map below.

All your Fascists are belong to us! It rocks, but you knew I'd say that, didn't you? The changes from the older version are much appreciated. The Mosca/Rata is both fun and frustrating to fly--I'm slowly breaking old habits and not just pushing the stick over when I want to dive. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif You really earn your wings in it if you can survive, that's for sure.

FlatSpinMan ...Thanx mate for sending me the campaign... 3 missions and I love it.... fast action... cr@pplanes.. good background information.. what else can I ask for? Maybe a paella in between missions served with some sangria maybehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PS I normally don't fly anything else but online dogfights and coops, never did like the predictable AI's, but hey.. for being a offline campaign it's great.

I do miss flying these thoughhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Very well done, great feeling. I fly planes which need to be handled gently to save energy anyway, so I'm not having much trouble except on landing those stubby little planes. You have to choose the right instant to get fancy with your flying, but man can those little planes turn when you need it

These two (ex-) He 51 pilots learned that the hard way http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I will dl it and try. I was planning to do Tintin Gampaign or at least some missions once and googled for Tintin skins. I guess you made them. I found Me and 1-16 skins, if i remember right.
