I read in the joystick thread that you intend to get an X-52. I STRONGLY advise you to register at their site and check out the X-52 forum. I got one at the end of October 05 and I am very happy with it BUT it is not without issues, several. I will continue to use it but I think next time I'll go for CH.

First: I'm not Pirschjager.

But, could you elaborate on that? I use the X52 and have had no issues.

1) The adjustable pinkie switch on my stick
just wont move. Its jammed on something.
There are several pinkie switch related
posts on their forum.
2) My scroll wheel doesnt seem to work at all.
Apparently this is a known issue.
3) The detents on the throttle cause
"flickering" which can be a pain in the a$$
when you are trying to see your prop pitch
and it keeps showing you power.

Like I said, I am happy with the bits that work and the software is great, very usable...but for 100 I was expecting a bit more. I do understand that lots of people will have no issues but the things I have listed are all mentioned sevsral times on the Saitek forum, so its not just me.

This is my first "@Pirschjaeger"thread. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I thought I was about to get flamed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Can we make it a sticky. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Foxboy, I was really impressed with that stick. I would have never even looked at it due to my experience with the X45. But obviously Saitek learnt from their mistakes and they had a lot to learn from.

I expect problems with any stick. After all, they are part of the pc industry. The demand for better, faster, and more of modern society has done nothing positive for "quality". Before they work out the bugs, it´s old, so the bugs done get fixed. We simply get new and improved bugs.

Maybe on of the designers read my previous whing about the X45. I hated that stick so much. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No, it's not just you. I did not realize I had issues, but one you mentioned there I have:
The little roller on the front of the throttle does not do anything. Oh, it rolls fine ..... but that's about it.
Not that I much care about that, really. In fact, I care so little that I had forgotten the thing. Otherwise I have not experienced any of the others. I have set my pinkie trigger one notch up with nary a problem.

Well, half of my disappointment was in the stick grip. It´s just too small. I even removed the pinky trigger. It wasn´t enough. The other half of my complaint was the stupidly designed button for the z-axis. To you it, you have to stack fingers on top of fingers.

I´m not so sure my hands are all that big. I can palm a basketball but I think most people can.

Ah, well, no real surprise; they were around back in the 30's and 40's and did some TV in the 50's. They were a really great comedy team; very, very funny. I just ordered a set of 5 of their movies and I can't wait for them to arrive.

I´m curious as to what the digital display looks like on the X52. Is it useful?

I never look at the jstick while flying. That´s a good way to get shot down.

Don't worry about missing the X-45. I have one and the stick is absolutely horrible.

The main problem with it is the cheap design of the centring spring. As you apply increasing force to move the stick it suddenly breaks free rather than moving smoothly. I found it almost impossible to fly with and now just use the throtttle in combination with an MS Sidewinder 2 stick.

Looks good. Performs rubbish.

Cheers,

RocketDog.

What Tully said. It would be nice if the display showed "50% throttle" or whatever, but who knows, maybe future drivers could enable this .

I don´t want Tully to hear this, but, I never use profiles. Default settings all the way. If that doesn´t work for me, I replace the stick or get used to it. Sorry, my life is too complicated as it is. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
