Hi all,

My uncle died back in the sixties in a mid air collision in his DH Vampire Mk. 6 when flying for the Swiss airforce. It was the first jet fighter we in Switzerland had during it's implementation, not few pilots died in accidents.

Now I want to create a scale model of the plane of my uncle. I got all details about markings, colors, etc. from the Swiss airforce museum but didn't find a suitable scale model of the DH Vampire Mk.6. There is one of another Mark from Airfix in 1/72 but first, it's not the right mark, then I would prefer a 1/48 model and from my point of view the quality isn't that good from this model.

Does anyone know if there is a Mk. 6 scale model available - preferable in 1/48 - of the DH Vampire?

Many thanks.

Did some searching...

The only thing that comes close in 1/48 is a Vampire Mk5 which is in pre-order status (release expected soon). You might be able to modify it to a Mk6. Don't know the difference between the 2 Mk's. Here's the link. I order regularly from Squadron and they are very reputible.

There is hobbycraftÔ┬┤s 1/48 kit of vampire, but itÔ┬┤s mark 1 and not a very good kit. HereÔ┬┤s litle info about it if you are interested: http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/portland/971/Reviews/50s/vampire_48.htm
