Remember my little project I worked on for quite awhile ago?

Well, it has been lying untouched for some time now as I didn't have any decent program to edit it in (had to format my drives), and also due to other things that occupied my mind.

Well yesterday I decided to complete the stuff I do have, and make some kind of promotion vid for F19... I think you have all seen this stuff, but here it is in completion.

My goal was to have camerapositions that felt like they were in place.. not hovering cameras everywhere. Hope you like it, I think I have come up with a few techiques (out of focus objects etc) that we haven't seen before in IL2 movies.

Thank you Sir. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Original camera set up. looks just like the historical front line clips, with cameras in credible places not hanging in the air. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
Great movie. Gotta love the Gladiator on skis. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

Lovely colours and sounds; great angles and a genuinely frenetic feel of combat.

However; the volumes are a bit uneven; the "shaky camera" was a bit over used for my taste and the sky looked a bit pixelated.

It's a terrific base; but it needs a bit more story.

I used the VLC player; and it ran very smoothly without problems.

well thanx. As I said, it was never completed and I knew I would really never complete it, so I just put the pieces together...

My scope was WAAAAY longer than this, but I thought that you guys who participated in it ought to have some reward hehe

If you wonder about the Intro, the speech during the map sequence, it is the Finnish Field Marshall Gustaf Mannerheim thanking the Swedish volunteers just after Finland has made peace with the Russians in the spring of 1940, after the Finnish Winterwar

-God day Swedish friends

- God day Field Marshall (Mannerheim)

-Volunteers, to You, who have rushed over land and sea, rushed to our aid, leaving home and country, preparred to sacrifice your lives on the Finnish drifts(snowdrifts), I want - on behalf of the army and myself - express my warmest thanks. Our gratitude and esteem will never fade.

Beautiful job, Orheim! Very professionally done, and some great effects. I for one did not miss the soundtrack--war doesn't always need one.

Great job. I hope you make more... The sound effects and the views were first rate... Loved the fixed camera views and the in-cockpit footage... Had me "involved"... Only thing I can see you adding would be some men running along the ground...

This might help.
Mine did that at first, but played it after a computer restart. Also after restart I played it first in my Creative Media Source Player, after that it worked ok in Windows Media Player.

Very nice sounds. Everytime I see a good film like this I'm always amazed by just what we already have in this sim. It would be nice if we could set the sim up to automatically do cinematic type camera-view changes, with a bit of camera shake added for a touch of realism.

In some other sims you can view from a selected ground target to any aircraft, and from the control tower too. I think you get a gun-camera view in Wings of Victory. I would like a fly-past view in which the camera also moves in an arc; I've seen this in one sim I owned, but can't remember which (WWII Fighters maybe?).

It would be nice to be able to set the sim to cut from one view to another every few seconds.

I really liked this one. As you mentioned, the cameras did seem to be more realistically placed - looking out the cockpit, views from the ground, the great one from behind the truck(which was out of focus-nice effect). I think the shots from the ground showing the crashes, especially one of the Russian ones, looked great. Nice lighting selection too. Good one.

We could host this for you at M4T, max file size 65mb, larger files can be arranged.
Always will be available, reliable link, plus you would have full control of the download for editing, updating etc.

You would need to register to upload but anyone can download.
