Given that you can have a fuze of up to 60 seconds in your rockets, will the rockets fly and exist in the game for the full time or once they are a set distance from your aircraft do they dissappear? What I am trying to get ai is if you were 55 rocket flight time seconds away from your target(a fair distance) will they hit it, if you are lucky enough to aim well?

Fuse and propellent are two different things. I doubt they would stay airborne for 60 seconds.

Would they not run out of fuel after a few seconds..?

yes but even if they run out of fuel they will still be airborne they dont just stop its called inertia!

Why not make a track and see?
Take a plane up high, and fire a few rockets.

Review the track after.

(Assuming you can see them in a track - may not be possible in 1.22)


This may work with QMB too - then you would not need the track

Don't forget to set your rocket convergence. Set it as wide as it will go. The rockets run out of fuel, and drop, but they will still blow up if there is an impact, in my experiance.

have you noticed the changed behaviour of the 262's rockets in 1.22? I've several times fired off 'huge volleys' in those 'easy settings' online fragfests that none of us play ( http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and noticed that you can catch up and fly through the cloud of projectiles. Inertia is certainly modelled - they're coasting along decelerating, and I've caught 'em up... pretty sure you could be unlucky enough to get blown up by one if you then chopped throttle/stalled in front of them, but I've not tried it yet...

Another hint from me: I think there's some kind of detonation timer on the rockets, just as we have it for bombs.

I once or twice saw a guy firing his rockets at me, but the distance was to great... but instead of just falling down or something, the rockets all detonated somewhere behind me.
He fired 3 pairs, but all detonated after only a few seconds, and well before they reached me.
